Chief Finance Officer, 09/2005 to 12/2016 Department of Veterans Affairs – Omaha, NE Served as the medical center chief financial expert. Developed a $500,000,000 annual budget for a complex medical facility and presented it to the hospital executive leadership team for approval. Created and maintained 41 individual medical center department budgets allowing managers to successfully operate their departments through continuous collaboration. Provided leadership for a Finance department that was responsible for budget development and execution, financial and workload analysis, productivity analysis, auditing, cost accounting, travel, and cashiering. AH1 Cobra Helicopter Crew Chief, 05/1976 to 05/1979 Unites States Army – Germany As a crew chief I was responsible for the continuous flight readiness of my aircraft. This required my leadership as the team lead for maintaining all aircraft systems in a 100% ready state. I inspected the aircraft on a daily basis and corrected any deficiencies within my capability, or assigned it for further repairs if required. In the 24 months I was assigned as a crew chief, my aircraft never missed a flight opportunity.
Ass't Housing Manager, 05/1979 to 02/1984 Iowa Western Community College – Council Bluffs, Iowa In this position I was responsible for overall maintenance of the student housing complex. This required coordinating with outside contractors to complete any necessary repairs and modifications. I routinely meet with the college board of directors regarding the status of the complex occupancy rate and any significant repairs needed or in process.
