Worked in many fields in my life, but spent 40 years in the transportation industry. As a driver of a line bus, maintained an excellent driving and attendance record, allowing me to compete in many Bus Rodeos, also winning Driver of The Month Awards many times. Strong commitment to customer relations and working well with co-workers.
Started as a part time School Bus Driver and was promoted to Dispatcher after 6 months. Worked as a dispatcher 15 years and was responsible for dispatching of all regular school routes, setting up of all charter work and setting up of all Long Island Rail Road track work projects in which our buses replaced trains on weekend track work projects. Promoted to Maintenance Shop Supervisor in 2007 to help out with a very behind schedule of Preventive Services, leading to non compliance with NYS DOT,and a high record of DOT failures. I was able to get completely caught with services in six months, to the point of now doing services for other yards in our company that are behind schedule. My current NYS DOT rate is in the 95, plus, percentile. I work very close with the DOT inspectors assigned to my shop.
As all other operators, I was responsible for the safe and timely transportation of my passengers. Retired after 34 years of service. During that time, I received many letters of commendation, awarded Driver of The Month, many times, received letters of commendation for excellent customer relations, was invited to two Nassau County Board meetings with the County Executive, and had resolutions bestowed upon me for service, including having pages set aside in the the minutes of those meetings. I was also invited to two meetings of the MTA Board with the President of the Board for service excellence and also had pages set aside in the minutes of those meetings for my service. As an experienced driver, I was asked on many occasions to help in the training of new drivers. Was the winner of the Long Island Bus Rodeo about 24 times. Participated in about 20 New York State Bus Rodeos including taking first place 6 times and also participated in about 22 APTA International Bus rodeos in which I came in second place twice and third place twice out of 60 plus, operators. Spent many years assisting the Safety and Training divisions of Long Island Bus, Suffolk Bus and New York's MTA, in the training of their drivers for upcoming State and International Rodeos. After retiring, I was called upon to be the course manager for Long Island Bus Rodeos and also judged in many other LIB, State and NYC bus rodeos. I currently still assist Veolia Transportation with rodeo events on a voluntary basis.
To say the least, I loved what I did and still miss it dearly.
Worked for the Fire District as a paid Dispatcher, midnight to 8 for two years to offset school expenses.
First ever Bus Driving job, responsible for safe transportation of children to school. Worked until hired by Long Island Bus, but returned part time, as a favor at a time when they were short drivers and continued for a few months.
Completed courses in Meteorolgy, Avionics and Aviation. Currently hold a valid FAA Pilots License, with about 100 hours of experience and about 5 hours of helicopter training.
Completed courses in Basic, Advanced and Officers Training fire fighting.
Completed course in safe handling of firearms and hunting.Currently hold a valid NYS pistol permit and Hunting license.

I was raised In the Hamlet of Bethpage , N.Y. I joined the Bethpage Fire Department at the age of 18. I was a member for 21 years, until I moved out the district. I achieved the ranks of 1 st. and 2 nd. Lieutenant and Captain of Engine Company 5. For a large part of that time, I was the chief chauffer and pump trainer and also driver and pump operator of our muster tournament team.
