Professional Profile
I am a retired Management R.N. and a Social Security Recipient who found that she does not like being retired, but did not want to go back into the high stress positions I had previously held. Looking for something a little less strenuous, I accepted a full time position with Walgreen's Corporation in 2009. I was advanced to an Asst. Mgr in 2011 and continued in that position (late re-designated as a Shift Lead Position)until 2015. Changes in Management and also in policies and hour expectations led me to look elsewhere for other employment. I went to work for Sears Holding Company August 20, 2015, to present. I can provide references from my current supervisors. I am an excellent, hard working, fast learning individual who thinks a job well done is done correctly the first time through. I don't believe in wasting time and think hours of performance need to be just that. I love people and customer service is an area I feel very comfortable in. I am not happy just working 1 area, but like to learn how the whole thing works, what is where, who does this, and why. Because the more I know, the better I can not only provide for my customer, but help my employer reach their goals.  If the merchandise isn't unloaded, unpacked, sorted, taken to the correct department and displayed in a pleasing manner that is easy to shop and encourages suggestive additional sales as well, then the store can't make money. If the store doesn't make money, I don't make money. If I don't make money, I don't have a job, or pay my bills, or feel satisfied at the end of the day. Management is an essential part of Retail Sales. There is a huge difference between Management and Exceptional Management.

Relevant Experience
Going to College is something that hundreds of thousands of people do every year. And hundreds excel with outstanding grades and achievements. I did not have the opportunity to go to College until after I married and raised my children to school age. I applied and was accepted to attend Nursing School when I was 40 years old. I graduated as Outstanding Grad of the Year 1990. My exceptional Nursing experience and the manner in which I was offered various learning and growing opportunities quickly, proves I am capable and a go-getter.

Going from a Management Nursing background to that of Retail Sales and succeeding in becoming a Shift Lead/Asst. Mgr within such a short time of hire again shows I am a quick learner, a great leader and a good team member willing to go the extra mile for not only my customer, but for my fellow associates as well. I have received many very glowing Customer Service Satisfaction Surveys both with Walgreen's and with Sears Holding Company.
Experience
Asst.Mgr/Shift Lead, 07/2011 to 07/2015
Department Of Veterans Affairs, ,
  • St.
  • Louis Park, Mn My days began by opening the Store, disarming the alarm, and completing a walk through of the store, making a list of what needed to be addressed in addition to the usual daily requirements of a Retail Business.
  • Next came counting out the safe and opening up all registers, placing cash drawers in each.
  • Reports with all the QI/KPI information from the previous day, week and month were then printed and perused, the information garnered by me in the 5 min.
  • meeting with the morning crew coming in.
  • This helped generate a sense of team work, and ensured that all employees were kept apprised of our sales goals and achievements, our standing in the community and the corporation, helping inspire and drive more focused efforts toward our goals that day.
  • During the day I worked with all employees, as well as vendors, and customers, handling problems that would arise, answering questions, and, over-all, helping my team offer each customer a great shopping experience.
  • If I was the closing Manager, I was responsible for the same things with the exception of the morning opening duties, substituted, instead, with closing reports, closing out cash registers, making deposits, balancing the safe and making sure the store was ready for business the next day.
Assistant Director, 01/2005 to 05/2006
Department Of Veterans Affairs, ,
  • Nursing Services Wichita, Ks I acted in full function as the Leader of the Nursing Staff, monitoring performance, assessing need for further training, counseling, problem solving patient care, working with multidisciplinary teams to provide excellent patient care for each client, assisting families with their educational needs related to their family member's health status and care requirements.
  • Monitored QA/QI for falls, fractures, infections, medication errors, weight loss and skin breakdown, watching those figures for patterns of either improvement or decline and assisting the Medical Director and the Director of Nursing, The Licensed Dietitian, Physical and Occupational Therapist, Speech Therapist and Activities Therapist create changes in care that would correct deficiencies.
Assistant Director, 07/1994 to 05/2002
Tractor Supply, ,
  • Nursing Andover, Ks Maintained the same function and duties as listed for Asst.
  • Dir.
  • of Nursing at HCR Manor Care with very little difference.
  • The only reason I left Life Care Centers to go to HCR Manor Care was because it was closer to home, and with my husband very ill that was important.
  • Also, the pay was much better and my boss from Andover had take over as Director of Nursing at Manor Care and wanted me to come with her.
  • We were a great team.
Merchandising Sales Associate, 07/2016 to Current
Sears Holding CompanyCity, STATE,
I love where I work. I love the team I work within. But I must have more hours and a full-time position designation for benefits. Being a widow, I am totally responsible for myself and my needs being met. Sears is not able to provide me with what I need, though they have tried to increase my hours, sales have been such that hours have been cut. Also they do not offer me affordable Health insurance, sick pay, or vacation pay. So I am basically filling in all the hours for everyone else, but with none of the benefits. They are saying they can perhaps get me to a full time designation by next year, but I can not wait that long. I currently work the floor, help unpack all freight, sort and distribute to the appropriate department. I am mainly in Women\'s Ready-to-Wear Department, but I am personally responsible for Intimates, Accessories, Sleepwear. I help maintain the other departments (Juniors, Misses, Misses Plus, Petites, and Formal Wear) as needed. I assist with Mark-downs and Clearance pricing. I help with merchandising/displays and handled store to home "catalog" orders. I help, when business requires, at registers. I am involved in signing the store, seeing that sale sighs for events are up and down as required and I help do
Price verification tracking to be sure we are doing a good job of properly signing merchandise.
