- Develops and manages the merchandise assortments for Fishing Apparel, in partnership with the buyer. Ensure the assortment meets the athlete’s needs and the brand vision.
- Collaborates with business partners in Planning and Allocations to review financial plans and ensure alignment between financial expectations and assortment.
- Participates in negotiations with existing and new vendors. Also partners with the Buyer on approach and management of the relationship.
- Analyzes the current market to speak to trends, by translating opportunity into actionable assortment and experience decisions.
- Presents pre-season line review to executive team members. Demonstrates expertise in product category and financial expectations.
- Works closely with Planning and AR on shifts in business trajectory. Leverage performance indicators and open to buy position throughout the season to chase opportunities and mitigate risk.
- Discovers opportunities and reacts to trends within the business. Which includes managing advertising, pricing, assortment needs and digital strategies.
- Manages the execution of the advertising strategy from promo planning activities to ad proof accuracy
- Builds strategic relationships with vendors and cross functional partners to discuss the business, recent trends and opportunities.
- Participates in market trips to stores to assess and monitor performance and customer satisfaction. Works with the field leadership and employees to gain additional insights.
- Ensures accurate and timely communication with the Visual team on upcoming floor sets to gain alignment with category strategy. This includes offering product placement recommendations and communicating adjustments.
- Acts as mentor to Assistant Buyers and Merch Admins within team. Share feedback on projects, tasks and deliverables.
-Assists the Senior Buyer with the development of merchandise assortments by category, collaborating on all parts of the business.
-Works closely with key business partners to develop and maintain relationships in order to drive the business.
-Consistently researches financial, competitive and industry data to be able to speak to current business trends and anticipate new ideas for the business.
- Completes product buys for new programs by understanding industry trends and historical data to ensure the right product is available in stores at the right time.
- Maintains the responsibility of business ownership by completing sales analysis, identifying business opportunities and making recommendations to drive the success of the business
- Works with merchandise planner to confirm all completed product buy programs fit into receipt plans as well ensuring current product in-stock levels are optimal for promotional activity in order to drive sales and gross margin dollars
- Communicates with cross-functional partners and vendors to develop strong relationships that will help drive the business unit as a whole
- Maintains ownership of the marketing aspect of the business, including: promotion creation/validation, completing marketing ad proofs, developing email promotions and analyzing promotional performance
- During Black Friday week, marketing assets were reduced versus the last year amount, therefore new marketing and sales tactics were put into place and resulting in the business being up 15% in sales over the year prior
- Trains and develops Merchandise Administrators & MTPs on the team
-Supports the buyer in identifying current trends and developing plans to create and modify product lines for Jo-Ann stores.
-Works closely with the merchant and key business partners to develop and maintain close relationships with vendors and marketing teams. -
-Routinely analyzes category and product performance, and works with the marketing team to ensure proper promotion of the product to customers.
-Assists in the development of monthly marketing plans for product lines
-Utilizes various methods of competitive and consumer research to create inspiration for new product lines
-Vendor interaction to discuss options for product sourcing of new category
-Completes analysis of weekly financial reports and provides insights into category level performance
-Maintained close working relationships with cross-functional departments, such as: marketing, merchandise planning, and replenishment
-Completes article creation and buy plans for new product
