The body paragraph (s): should contain skills and qualifications related to the job, i.e., provide a narrative example of how your job-related skills were obtained/honed. Your goal here is to match the skills to the employer’s needs. Justify how your career experiences could fit into the position and the organization.
The end paragraph: is the closer that would signify a ‘call to action’ by reiterating an essential qualification for the position you possess and an appreciation for the employer’s consideration.

How to Write a Model Cover Letter
Before you start writing your cover letter, check out the image below to understand what information to include in each section of your letter.
Now that you've got an idea of the cover letter basics let's dive into the details of optimizing your letter to land a specific role.
STEP 1
Format your cover letter’s header correctly
Every cover letter must have a properly formatted header. In this first section, you'll share the letter's date, details about the recipient and a formal greeting.
Strong cover letter header example:
April 09, 2025
Ms. Emily Parker, Talent Acquisition Manager
Elite Model Management
245 Fifth Avenue, 24th Floor
New York, NY 10016
Dear Ms. Parker,
Weak cover letter header example:
October 25th, 2023
To whome it may consern,
Samantha Green
123 Madeup Street
New York, NY 00000
(111) 222-333
sgreen@email.com
Modeling Showroom Ltd.
Attn: Mr. Jefferys McDonaldd
456 Imaginary Blvd
Los Angeles, CA 9999
PRO TIP
A big cover letter red flag is to greet the letter's recipient with a generic “To Whom It May Concern.“ Instead, personalize the greeting by stating your recipient's name or address a cover letter without a name professionally with “Dear Hiring Manager.“
STEP 2
Introduce yourself in the opening paragraph
Your model cover letter must quickly capture the hiring manager's attention. Introduce yourself with your professional title and key qualifications, such as in-demand skills or specialized expertise. For example, see how these two opening paragraph examples compare:
Strong opening paragraph example:
As a freelance model with two years of experience in fashion and commercial modeling, I am eager to apply for the professional model position at Elite Model Management. My dedication to refining my craft led to a successful campaign with a top designer, where I boosted engagement by 40% through strategic social media promotion. I am motivated to bring my unique style and strong work ethic to your esteemed agency.
Weak opening paragraph example:
Hi, I'm eager to work at Glamour Modeling Agency. I've always admired the fashion world—it’s so amazing and exciting! I’ve got some experience modeling and love it.
PRO TIP
If a current employee has referred you for the position, mentioning it here can make a big difference. Check out our article on referral cover letter openings for examples of how to do this effectively.
STEP 3
Share relevant achievements in the body paragraph
Write a strong cover letter body paragraph that shows why you're the best person for the model role. You can format this section as a paragraph or use bullet points to list additional achievements and experiences you couldn't fit into your resume but are relevant nonetheless.
Strong body paragraph example:
As a professional model, I have demonstrated exceptional versatility and adaptability, leading a diverse range of campaigns that increased brand visibility by 35%. My keen understanding of market trends and strong communication skills have enabled successful collaborations with top industry creatives. Addressing evolving fashion needs, my problem-solving ability ensures a seamless workflow, enhancing client satisfaction. I am eager to bring my experience and passion for modeling to your esteemed agency.
Weak body paragraph example:
I am really looking for a modeling job because I believe it could help my career and I have always wanted to be a model. I think I have a decent look, although I haven't modeled professionally. I don't have much experience but I'm eager to learn. I'm hopeful for an opportunity to start in the industry.
STEP 4
Finish by encouraging next steps
Seal the deal with potential employers by finalizing your cover letter with a compelling closing paragraph. Summarize your letter's key points and state your interest in scheduling a future interview.
Strong closing paragraph:
With my unique blend of creative flair and adaptability honed through years of diverse modeling experiences, I am eager to bring my dynamic presence to Elite Model Management. I believe I can add valuable style and charisma to your team. I look forward to the opportunity to discuss my fit for this role during an interview. Thank you sincerely for considering my application.
Best regards,
Emily Harper
Weak closing paragraph:
I'm not really sure if I'm a perfect match for the modeling position, but I am willing to give it a try and learn along the way. Feel free to contact me if you think there might be a place for me. Thanks for taking the time to read my application.
Best regards,
Sophia Lee
