Team Lead and Setup Technician for the top company in the explosives field specifically for the oil and gas industry. As a technician my responsibilities centered around the manufacturing of shaped explosive charges and the hydraulic presses used to create the product. To keep the presses operating at maximum potential a vast knowledge or hydraulic pressure, hand tools and troubleshooting was/is required. Quality control inspections of metal powders, high and low explosive powder and machined tooling was key in making sure the product met certain specifications to allow it to be suited for customer needs. Another key aspect of my position was constant communication with other areas of the company to insure proper manufacturing such as Research and Development, Machine Shop, Maintenance, Special Projects and Engineering as well as Upper Management.
As a Team Lead my duties included training new employees as well as continuing education for current employees, Scheduling for days of work as well as distributing the workload and giving direction for any company needs.
Other daily functions included phone communications, forklift operation, computer work and data logging.
My duties at Danny's Smokehouse Bar-B-Q were quite numerous. I was involved with every operation of the restaurant. From managing a crew of 6-7 employees to catering planning, ordering product, customer relations, meat cutting, inventory, money management, opening/closing down of the building and maintenance. Keeping the employees well trained and work ethic positive, I believe, was one of the most important aspects of proper operation of the business.
This position provided me with skills in life that cannot be taught fully unless you are put in a spot where it is absolutely necessary. Self-control, trusting your instinct, the importance of teamwork, communication and the importance of why rules, regulations and laws are put in place.
Duties involved working with people in various mental and physical states. Enforcing policy needed to operate in the safest and most secure way. Phone and radio communication. Proper inspection of inside/outside of facility. Working with the public. Making rounds of secure areas of the jail housing general inmates, solitary confinement and suicidal persons. Physical altercations as well dealing with persons with mental illnesses and controlled substance related problems. The ability to adapt to current situations at all times and having the mental aptitude to deal with things such as stress, medical issues, inmate to inmate problems and other various problems that go on with a jail housing three hundred plus inmates.
Various training classes, including Texas State Jail School and the successful completion of the state exam to receive a Corrections Officer License.
This position required the set-up, sales and service of commercial ice machines for business around the state of Texas. Traveling to and from service and set up calls while providing the upkeep of a company vehicle, tools and inventory. Numerous skills required for this job were needed such as the use of hand and power tools. Knowledge of electrical wiring and plumbing. Customer support and relations. Computer work, invoicing, data logging and troubleshooting. Continuing education classes put on by the manufacturers in the business. Payment and money handling. Heavy lifting and teamwork as well.
