I worked in the receiving headquarters office to check in, process, and distribute merchandise to five store locations. My role in processing merchandise required me to be organized and efficient when checking in, labeling, pricing, separating, and packaging goods purchased by the company buyers.
As an All-Star Cheerleading Coach, I had the opportunity to teach 10-16 year old kids the importance of teamwork, dedication, and self-confidence. I coached them to develop skills in tumbling and stunting, then choreograph these skills into an award winning two minute and thirty second routine to be performed in competitions all over the south east region of the U.S. I have had the honor to coach four national champion teams in the past five years.
As a Clinical Care Assistant I worked alongside registered nurses, physicians, and many other members of the health care team. I am responsible for tasks such as positioning, feeding, bathing, and ambulating patients. In such an intimate patient care position, I had the opportunity to get to know my patients and develop a strong rapport with each of them. Patients depended on me to maintain their safety and sense of integrity, so it was my responsibility to be compassionate, work with other team members, and be competent in my practice to deliver the best possible patient care.
As a Registered Nurse I work in the Trauma/Surgical ICU. My position includes but is not limited to invasive hemodynamic monitoring, caring for ventilated patients, as well as administering medications and closely monitoring responses. My care for the surgical patient includes those recovering from a liver or kidney transplant, abdominal surgery, or a variety of other surgical interventions. I have also recovered patients from cardiovascular surgeries such as bypass grafts, valve replacements, thoracotomies, aneurysm repairs, and a variety of other cardiothoracic surgeries. Because UAMS is the only Level 1 trauma center in the state of Arkansas, I've had the opportunity to care for a very diverse patient population with multi-system trauma. During my time here I have partnered with physicians, social workers, therapists, nutritionists, and case managers to develop and implement individualized care plans and documented all patient interactions and interventions in EPIC electronic charting systems. My role as an RN in the ICU also includes precepting nurses who are new to the ICU and participating as an active member in the UAMS Code Team.
