Work History
Staff Pharmacist, 07/2020 to Current
CVS Health – Wadesboro (Store #3815), NC
  • Operating of Wadesboro, NC, I have supported the fostering of a formerly ~1,800 prescription per week store into a well over 3,500 prescription per week, extremely profitable operation with very little resource allotment, always ensuring patient care, service, and satisfaction are maintained.
  • To note, we have carried our entire district to script budget, routinely being not only the only store to meet budget, but to exceed it by 100% some weeks.
  • Amidst the recent acquisition of a nearby Walmart (Wadesboro) in March of this year, and more recently Anson Pharmacy (Wadesboro) in July of this year, this store has proven challenging in various ways, especially around adjusting the team to a brand-new, high-volume environment. Despite this, we have persevered in impressive ways as a team.
  • This role has necessitated the very prompt maturing of a young pharmacist, as well as mastery of inventory, regulatory, and workflow processes, and successfully leading a many-times exhausted team to promote satisfactory results from a fiscal business perspective as well as a customer service perspective.
  • I have a firm understanding of pharmacy business principles and am already (this quickly) extremely hungry for advancement in my career and pursuing next steps toward any looming opportunities over the horizon.
  • Protected drug inventories from damage or theft by establishing and enforcing clear pharmacy policies.
  • Recommended OTC devices or medication options to help mitigate individual symptoms.
  • Vaccinated patients to provide immunity against influenza, pneumonia and other diseases.
  • Compared prescription details against safety standards and insurance requirements to support patients.
  • Educated patients on possible drug interactions, potential side effects and optimal methods of administration.
  • Evaluated patient histories to assess medication compliance and spot issues such as doctor shopping or excessive usage.
  • Communicated regularly with physicians, nurses, insurance companies and managed care organizations.
  • Verified and labeled prescriptions with 8 point check.
  • Saved patients money and increased pharmacy profit margins with therapeutically equivalent and more cost-effective generic drugs.
  • Assessed correct identity, strength and purity of medications when filling prescriptions.
  • Inspected drug storage sites, monitored drug supply expiration dates and verified proper supply levels.
Intern Pharmacist, 08/2016 to 07/2020
CVS Health – Monroe (Store #7564), NC
  • Much of my notable pharmacy experience has come from this role.
  • Prompt and effective workplace task management, staff morale management, metric tracking / action plan development, inventory-related tasks (both pharmacist and non-pharmacist), team delegation, task organization, regulatory knowledge and therapeutic management have been extensively exercised in this position.
  • Educated patients on possible drug interactions, potential side effects and optimal methods of administration.
Pharmacy Technician, 03/2015 to 05/2016
CVS Health – Reidsville (Store #4381), NC
  • My introduction to practical pharmacy experience.
  • Working in a small town, I learned many of the foundation techniques such as customer interaction, proper medication handling, and billing / sales in this role.
  • Helped pharmacist clear problematic prescriptions and address customer questions to keep pharmacy efficient.
  • Performed various pharmacy operational activities with strong commitment to accuracy, efficiency and service quality.

Professional Projects
  • Heart Failure Counseling Rollout - Novant Health Matthews Medical Center
    Aug 2019 – Sep 2019
Novant Health senior administration created a vision of designing and implementing heart failure counseling sessions for eligible patients via the in-hospital pharmacy teams during a period of time I spent at NHMMC. Working with the pharmacy manager and an ICU clinical specialist, I served an integral role in creating, morphing, refining and implementing NHMMC's branch of heart failure counseling via process development, personal trial-and-error and then individual coaching with each pharmacist on the team. Furthermore, I worked closely with our pharmacy manager and IT department to configure how each session would be logged and documented within EPIC.
  • Type 2 Diabetes / Heart Failure Adherence and Cost-Savings Initiative - Atrium CarolinaCARE Mail Order
    Jul 2019 – Aug 2019
Worked as an integral part of a T2DM and heart failure adherence / cost-savings initiative within the clinical operations team at Atrium CarolinaCARE. Mainly, patients were targeted for promptness of T2DM / HF medication refills relative to last pickup / RX date written, and personally contacted for barriers to adherence or issues with compliance. Generally, these were around cost. Many patients were successfully switched to a more cost-effective, and thus, ultimately more practical medication in either instance and counseled on expectations around those medications, as well as general disease state knowledge. At the time of my departure, based on annual medication savings and factoring opportunity costs in avoidance of HF hospitalizations, the total savings potential for a full fiscal year between the two separate projects totaled roughly $70,000. Throughout a course of 5 weeks, the team and I were able to objectively identify almost $10,000 in savings we had demonstrated within that time alone.
  • Lead CPhT Conference Calls - District 06, CVS/health
    Jun 2019 – Jul 2019
Collaboratively designed and implemented a system for a weekly lead technician conference call for all CVS/pharmacy stores in district 06. Each week, topics varying between understanding the "why" and "how" of relevant performance measures & metrics, to inventory management and company procedures, to regulatory odds and ends that may be unknown to most store-level technicians. This program was designed to not only help bridge gaps in education on important in-store topics, but also to give lead technicians a platform to voice concerns, a forum to discuss ideas, and degree of responsibility, importance and ownership they may not currently feel they have beyond scheduling in their pharmacies.
  • Doctoral Seminar - ILUMYA™ for Plaque Psoriasis
    Dec 2018 – Jan 2019
An expansive presentation on newly approved ILUMYA™ (tildrakizumab-asmn), a biologic therapy for adult patients suffering from moderate-to-severe chronic plaque psoriasis. Included background on pathophysiology of disease state, drug background including MOA, pharmacokinetic parameters, administration, pricing, comparisons to conventional therapies, and discussion of efficacy based off of large-scale phase IIb and phase III clinical trials leading to the drug's approval. Presented to faculty and student body.
