As a shift leader, I deal with whatever is needed during my shift including, but not limited to, training new employees, being responsible for all registers/cash drops, making the ice cream and maintaining the ice cream machine, decorating cakes, controlling labor costs, overseeing all crew members during my shift, assisting the general manager and owners, mediating any disputes between coworkers or customers, and ultimately ensuring customers leave satisfied and eager to return.
I worked as a commissioned salesperson introducing the products to customers and continuing to help them through the purchasing process. I also dealt with any unhappy customers and occasionally ordering and restocking of products.
As a store opener, I was responsible for prep work as well as serving customers by making ice cream and running the cash register.
Being home schooled from K-12 has been a huge help to me in every job I have thus far worked. In order to succeed at homeschooling you absolutely must possess one strong attribute: self-motivation. Through those years of school I learned to be responsible for my own work. This sense of accountability has motivated me to be someone who finds tasks for, not only myself, but others and accomplish them with efficiency and precision.
Currently a double major in English and History, that self-motivation has only grown fiercer during my time here at College of the Ozarks.
