Efficient, thats the word that describes how I work. Whether I'm feeding calves and I move a bag of milk replacer so I can save a few steps with each batch of bottles, or building a whole new front for my evaporator to save firewood, I am always trying to maximize efficiencies in the workplace, to save time and money. I also work very hard to meet deadlines and be in time, working on the farm the cows have to be milked the same time, twice a day, every day, so a person has to become good at working around that and meeting deadlines so that you are not late with milking cows. These are just a few of the many qualities my experiences in the agriculture industry have taught me.
I assist with installing milking robots and building milking parlors. I also assist with repairs to milking systems of all kinds. For route sales we helped the farmers with making sure they are using the right chemicals and their milking systems are preforming at the optimum level.
I milked cows while keeping milk quality at the forefront of the operation by trying to detect and treat mastitis at all times. I also fed and cared for cows, calves, and heifers. I assisted with machinery care, maintenance, and repair. I also helped with fieldwork, making hay, and other farm equipment operation.
I currently tap about 450 trees and make about 130 gallons of syrup per year. I have spent a lot of time and energy keeping my maple syrup operation up to date and as efficient as possible by updating my equipment and keeping up to date on the newest research.
