Monitor, support and provide guidance to state agencies to ensure federal statutes, regulations and policies are interpreted and applied properly; monitor state agency performance during MEs and accompanied ARs; developed a selection tool to determine the SWRO AR schedule annually; monitor state agency and local SFA staff during on and off-site portions of the AR; track findings, assist with evaluating and making recommendations for program design improvement to ensure program requirements are met; report performance of the unit's efforts to the School Nutrition Programs Branch Chief, as needed.
Prepare and submit special briefings, memoranda, and reports to higher-level management on project status and research findings to alert management of positive trends as well as deficiencies and inconsistencies.
Assist with analyzing and interpreting program data submitted by State agencies in the USDA Food Program and Reporting System (FPRS) and via email; collect, analyze, correct and report datasets of the FNS 828, 834, 874 and 742 reports and Ameliorative Action Report into FPRS; conduct regional edit checks in written and/or statistical format for Regional Office to ensure data accuracy; assist and monitor unit special projects to ensure submissions meet unit goals and key performance measures.
Respond to requests for technical assistance and/or information from clients, legislators, and other state government personnel, industry representatives, and other organizations, as assigned.
Assist with providing guidance, monitoring and technical assistance to state agencies administering the National School Lunch Program (NSLP), School Breakfast Program (SBP), Afterschool Snack Program (ASSP), and Special Milk Program (SMP); perform comprehensive regional accountability activities; monitor program requirements by conducting on-site evaluations of state agencies participating in the school meals programs; 8 southeast state agencies.
Monitor fiscal and program integrity during audits.
Provide training and technical support to state agencies that are deficient and/or non-compliant in federal accountability standards; coordinate state agency, regional and national training (develop agendas and/or training materials); train RO, SA and School Nutrition Programs Branch staff on program requirements through formal and informal presentations, per request or as assigned.
Conduct and monitor all aspects of the Program Monitoring and Oversight; Administrative Review process; assisted with updating the SWRO School Nutrition Programs Branch Standard Operating Procedures.
Submit USDA AR reports and analyze during the Office of Program Integrity projects.
Assist with providing technical assistance for all CNPs.
Conduct all aspects of the ME process: Train SA staff on the comprehensive AR process and other program areas.
Formulate written reports of findings and recommendations and debriefings during the reviews; negotiate corrective action plans; and conduct entrance and exit conferences.
