ā¢ Senior Department Leader responsible for the daily safety and security operation for the largest Marriott property in the world with its 120-acre multi-building facility, 2881 hotel rooms, 760,000 sq ft of meeting space, 1500 employees and the draw of over 2 million guests annually
ā¢ Key contributor in creating and managing an annual department budget of $3.5 million
ā¢ Senior-level leader over seven direct-report managers, eight indirect supervisors and front-line security team of 100+ full and part-time employees
ā¢ Oversaw all investigations for both guest and employee-injuries as well all internal and external investigations involving company policy infractions and/or criminal activity ā including such matters as serious assault, fraud and theft. (As part of an investigation, I frequently conducted or was at minimum involved directly with interviewing employees -and sometimes even guests - who either had direct involvement or was witness to an incident.)
ā¢ Conducted a plethora of property-wide risk assessments, job-specific hazard assessments, as well after-incident and/or after- injury analysis and mitigation reports
ā¢ Directly responsible for managing the worker's compensation claim's process for all employees and directly maintained the propertyās OSHA 300 Log
ā¢ Was co-leader of the Safety Committee that was responsible for successfully reducing serious employee injuries that subsequently lead to a 45% reduction in workerās compensation claims in 2019 (over 2018) and was on target to reduce serious employee injuries and worker's compensation claims even further in 2020 pre-Covid
ā¢ Oversaw all quarterly property-wide Fire & Life Safety as well as OSHA-compliance inspections as well served as a key leader in participating in Marriottās mandatory annual third-party Fire & Life Safety inspection, which Gaylord Opryland passed with glowing marks each time under my leadership (along with my Director and Senior Engineering leaders)
ā¢ Major participant on the project team that managed a two-year long project from initial property analysis and budget approval to complete installation of a $3.2 million CCTV platform upgrade and installment of an additional 270 CCTV cameras property-wide
ā¢ Directly responsible for the safety and security efforts (that also included traffic control and mass transportation plans) for multitudes of large conventions that routinely drew 10,000 to 50,000 people as well as being responsible for the safety and security of large special events such as sporting competitions, concerts, carnivals, 5k runs, etc.
ā¢ Coordinated security efforts routinely with security details of high-level government and military officials as well as celebrities of all genres.
ā¢ Directly coordinated with the Secret Service on two Presidential and one Vice-Presidential visits to Gaylord Opryland during my tenure
ā¢ Established and maintained close working relationships with law enforcement officials on all levels - local, state and federal
ā¢ Conducted the āCivilian Response to Active Aggressorā training for all employee orientation classes
Primarily responsible for coordinating and managing the safety, security and logistical movement of all artists participating in either the CMA Award Shows or the annual CMA Fests in June. Secondarily responsible for crowd control management in front of concert stages.
