I am currently a SASMO (Sustainment Automation Support Management Officer)for the Nebraska Army National Guard. The SASMO provides customer assistance for the Army's STAMIS systems, including software, hardware and technical support. I also play an essential role in distributing new STAMIS equipment to the field. I also maintain over several million dollars worth of equipment. I am the only SASMO in Western Nebraska, that is in a remote office 420 miles away from the main office, therefore I am responsible to maintain a huge area and travel frequently. While deployed to Balad, Iraq with the 734th Transportation Battalion, I worked as the Assistant NCOIC of the BN S6 shop. I directly planned, over saw and implemented a major fiber installation, completely moved our communications closet to consist of rewiring the entire building (157 drops), implemented and installed new physical security devices, rewired the audio/visual systems to include, new projectors, sound systems. I also went through a complete phase of exchanging old computers with new (consisting of total wipes of old operating systems and moving every persons profile, with a 100% success rate). Installed a complete new phone systems, copper and VOIP. Saw a complete project of ordering High Frequency Radios from concept through delivery and installation. Trained new employees and explained protocols clearly and efficiently.
