I was employed as a retail sales associate at Potpourri in Highlands, NC. I gained experience in all three of their stores in Highlands; Potpourri 1, Potpourri 2, and Potpourri eyewear. I learned skills in customer service as well as gained experience selling retail goods. My goal was to sell as much items as possible. The main 2 stores sold mostly women's clothing and accessories, as well as gift items and household decorations. I greeted customers with a smile and informed them of sales going on, as well as new and popular products. It was necessary to know inventory and where items were located throughout the shop in order to help customers find exactly what they wanted. I also gained skills on the POS cash register; I have the knowledge make a transaction by either card or cash. Tagging clothes and putting items on display was another important aspect of my job. I learned how to display items properly for sale, as well as making sure the right inventory was on the floor. I also was expected to maintain a knowledge of current trends, and look presentable for work. At the end of the day, I would help close the stores by vacuuming the floors, wiping down dressing room mirrors, cleaning the restrooms, taking the trash out, counting the drawer and closing the register. This experience taught me how to be a good saleswoman, and I gained new knowledge of the retail industry
I was a hard worker at McConnell's own Treyburn Country Club in Durham, North Carolina in the summer of 2017, as well as the summer of 2019. At Treyburn I was the waitress at the 'Cabana' at the pool. My job was to take orders from members, and serve them their food and beverages to their tables and lounge chairs. I had the responsibility of remembering names and faces, as well as their orders and preferences. I maintained a professional attitude throughout my career at Treyburn Country Club. Every morning when I would arrive, I would head to the upstairs kitchen and obtain what I needed for the day from dry storage, freezers, etc. After each and every day, I helped clean the cabana by sweeping and wiping down surfaces and the drink fountain. I was responsible of putting everything up where it belonged at the end of my shifts. We as the staff were expected to uphold a friendly, approachable attitude, as well as develop and maintain a personal relationship with each and every member and customer.
As a lifeguard, I guarded patrons from designated stands on hourly rotations, while also maintaining the pool, pool deck, and indoor facilities. My pool attendant duties included tasks such as cleaning, sweeping, blowing off the deck, vacuuming the pool, cleaning tables and chairs, and ensuring everything was organized and neat looking. As a lifeguard and pool attendant, I also had to make sure patrons signed in and followed facility policies. Keeping the patrons safe and happy was the staff's main goal as a lifeguard at Treyburn Country Club and Black Horse Run. I monitored the safety of all guests in and around the swimming pool. I attended to the needs of visitors by aiding and providing customer service in a fast-paced environment. Greeting all members in a professional and friendly manner is an important aspect of any job and I am always willing and able to lend a helping hand.
