I was hired as a Computer Operator/Switchboard Operator for the Communications Office for the Naval Hospital of Camp Lejeune under the JCI Contract. There are an array of duties that have strengthened my abilities to communicate and operate at a fast and accurate pace while also generating a great attitude. I have also become even more detail oriented than I have ever been before and have excelled in this.

The experience that I have had at this job has widened my abilities and knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. I am also to hold knowledge and daily changes of the operating systems of Metasys, Simplex Systems and Page 21. I also have to have great customer service skills to be able to understand what a caller is asking for and getting them exactly who or what they are needing at a quick and accurate pace.

Duties and Responsibilities that I have acquired:

-Paging via Page 21 for Providers (doctors), Nurses, Directorates, and Maintenance for daily and all Emergency situations. Managing inventory of all 375 + pagers at all times.

-Naval Hospital Information Line- Conversing with patients to get them to where they need to go for appointments and to manage their Tri-Care. Responsible for also managing and updating the Command Phone Directory, Personnel Roster and Hospital Inpatient List.

-Follow all HIPPA rules and laws.

-Pelco Security Monitoring System:

Monitoring up to 36 + cameras 24 hours a day for any and all suspicious activities and if found to notify the appropriate personnel ie: Hospital Security or PMO Officers of such findings.

-Simplex Intrusion Devices and Fire Monitoring System:

Monitor a total of 2,703 points on Simplex. Notify Hospital Security of all unknown intruders for door alarms received. Writing service reports for “trouble” alarms for techs. Monitor the Fire System when an alarm activates notifying the entire hospital of procedures to be taken as well as notifying the Camp Lejeune Fire Dept of area in which alarm/fire is sounding. Working with Fire Dept hand in hand to make sure appropriate actions are being taken. Disabling and Re-enabling points on the Simplex System.

-Metasys HVAC System:

Monitor a total of 14.420 Hospital points daily as well as 5,679 outer Clinics and making sure they stay in their mandatory temperature ranges. Research all temperature complaints for all areas of the hospital. Be able to adjust when needed for Cases in the Operating Rooms. Monitor Medical Clinics inside and outside of the hospital at all times and notifying appropriate personnel when there is an alarm generated for their clinic.

This is just a short summary of the duties that I had been required to fulfill. Along with all of these duties I was responsible to record a complete and detailed logbook of all happenings of all pertinent information to pass on to the relief when they arrived. I was also responsible to ensure that all paperwork that was generated from the Simplex and Metasys Systems were competently filled out to JACCHO's standards. I also type 60+ wpm with accuracy.
