I reviewed several robbery notifications relative to a serial armed robbery suspect in a black Nissan Altima who was robbing people as they withdrew money from the ATM at random banks. After several hours of surveilling my assigned beat (1-9), I observed a matching vehicle in the parking lot of a bank in the 1400 block of Veterans Boulevard. I coordinated efforts over the radio with Deputy Chad Lachney and we entered from each side of the bank to stop the vehicle. The vehicle fled, striking Deputy Lachney's vehicle and almost hitting him. Deputy Lachney was not injured and we pursued the suspect though Metairie into Kenner where he wrecked his vehicle and was apprehended. The suspect's gun was located on the interstate after he threw it during the pursuit. JPSO Robbery detectives assumed control of the investigation and obtained a confession for all robberies and also for attempted armed robbery that day.
