I believe in being informative and educated on the issues at hand to provide a clear, concise and understood answer that leaves no issues in question. Having a good experienced background from all different sections and parts of the city allows me to understand the different issues that may plague or continue to plague this city and communities. The planning and understanding of new technology, having continual understanding of community groups, organizations and stakeholders that have vested interest in the operations of the Philadelphia Police Department is vital to the success of this department. I believe that being able to clearly understand the main goals and the desired future plans that are researched, developed or desired is important to being a part of the Strategic Communications Bureau. One must understand the community and situation that they are presented with at different times does calls for a solid knowledge based, technical experienced person that could relay the appropriate information in the right manner. Having the intelligence of today's social media platform allows this department a good tool to bridge the communities together with this department. In conclusion, I believe with the knowledge, experience, desire, drive and attention to detail I could be an asset the the Strategic Communications Bureau.
Everyday operations involving strategic deployment to combat the criminal aspect on a daily basis in the most violent, busiest district in the City of Philadelphia. Oversee and organize the administrative flow of policies and guidelines to subordinate supervisors and officers. Lead the way with the appearance and knowledge that will educate all individuals that have concerns or mere inquisitions about the daily operations of our tasks. Tracking crime patterns, giving, providing and developing operational effectiveness is a key asset in the daily community awareness of crime fighting. The continual studying and understanding the technological intricacies allows you to provide the subordinates the appropriate knowledge. Understanding and clearly informing fellow workers, subordinates and the public stops the misinformation and ideas of incorrect everyday policing.
As the Commanding Officer of the Evidence Services Unit, the task involved overseeing four different units with in the Office of Forensic Science. The sole responsibilities of the following units, ( Forensic Science Security, Evidence Intake, Digital Media Unit and Drug Evidence Control) were controlled an overseen by myself. I controlled and accounted for the entire evidence intake, chemical, criminalistic, firearms and drugs for the Philadelphia Region. The implementation of the Body Worn Camera Program within Police Department at various districts, units and continual education to ensure the smooth transition into modern technology. The Drug Evidence Unit contained all the narcotics for seizures, arrest and years of safe keeping for proper storage for judicial proceedings. The destruction of narcotic evidence and other court deemed evidence was an administrative and technical challenge every destruction burn, but was completed with success and much coordination. Commanding the Forensic Security Unit also ensure that all of the firearms, criminalistic, narcotic crime scene unit components were all protected and safeguarded to the utmost professionalism, attention to detail and with the chain of custody to ensure proper policies and guidelines.
As patrol Sergeant I worked in two sections of the City, East Division and Center City. Have the experience in these two sections gave the insight as to the issues that have plagued those communities for years. The supervision of the officers and having to give detailed planned ideas to combat those community issues gave an understanding as to the continual insight to information and justification. All the while, providing the young new officer out on the street the guidance to understand what is expected and demanded on a everyday basis from the Police Department and the Citizens of Philadelphia.
As a patrol officer I worked in 2 districts in the City, First, starting at the 12th District in Southwest Philadelphia and then the 2nd District working in the Northeast Section of the City. At these two assignments, I had worked as a patrol officer, tactical and burglary five squad officer, and administrative capacities as well. Tracking crime patterns and gaining knowledge of the changing technological programs that the Police Department has taken a part of to fight the elements that plague our communities.

Having Served in the Military for 6 years and performing a radio operator gave me a experience with many different cultures throughout the world. Having this additional experience gave me great understanding of many of the different experiences that I have encountered during my long career in the Police Department.
