gunner. The mission for the QRF is to
act as a counter assault team during PSD movements in town or on out of town
movements. Staging our vehicles in the
vicinity of the venue in the event of an attack. My responsibility as a gunner is to provide
accurate fire to suppress the threat/threats upon arrival and during the rescue
of US State Department /PSD personnel.
Prior
to becoming a member of the QRF, I served as a driver for the follow vehicle on
a PSD movement team in support of Chief of Mission personnel. My responsibility as driver was to make sure
the teams Shift Leader and team medic arrive safely on venue. Once on venue I was responsible for
maintaining radio contact with the tactical operations center or TOC via our
team's satellite communications.

was assigned to a PSD team in support of the US Embassy in Baghdad, Iraq. Our team was responsible for advancing the
venue/venues 45 minutes to an hour prior to the movement teams arrival with
Chief of Mission personnel.
While
on an advance team I served in various positions from driver, well gunner, and
vehicle commander.

Served
as vehicle commander for Camp Stryker's Rapid Response Team or RRT, with four
Ugandan security operators under my direct supervision. RRT was much like a QRF, responding to post
IDF attacks, patrolling the inner perimeter of the camps wall, helped the
military police during the event there were prison riots at Camp Cropper and
assisted in any VIP visits to the camp. When Victory Base was lost to SOC from EODT, I was relocated to COP Cashe, south of Baghdad. Once at COP Cashe I worked the night shift in the TOC, maintaining radio contact with the US forces performing presence patrols in the AO as well as contact with our Ugandan guard force in the towers, LP/OPs and entry control points.

Group in Baghdad/Abu Ghraib. Most of our missions
took place in the IZ or Green Zone as well as conducting airport runs dropping
