For the majority of the last 17 years, I have been self employed as a body piercer where I ran my own business which I subletted out of existing tattoo studios. In doing so I have acquired a full range of skills that are applicable across the board, not just exclusively to the body modification industry. Some of these skills include, but are not limited to, the following:
-Problem solving/ Critical thinking
I owned and operated Esoteric Body Piercing where I had two employees under me. I handled the training, inventory, ordering and managerial responsibilities as well as some of the body piercing and jewelry sales.
I volunteered for this 501 3(c) non-profit and helped get them up and running. I filled two roles, secretary and fundraising chairperson and was responsible for coming up with and running several large scale successful fundraising events which raised money to help children with cancer and their families in the DC metro area. Some of the events I put on included:
-DC Zombie Crawl
-Stillbrave Holiday Party and Silent Auction
I had to step down from my position due to our moving to Texas, but a lot of the events and ideas I implemented will continue to generate money for this great cause for many years to come.
I worked at Starlight Tattoo in the Mandalay Bay Casino as a body piercer. On top of handling the piercings and jewelry sales I also did all of the jewelry orders, inventory and merchandising.
