I grew up in a small town where my family owned a retail pet store, so from the time I was around 13 until the time I was 26 I had worked there eventually working my way up to assistant manager. I have extensive knowledge of pets including exotic animal pet care, animal identification, pet dietary and health needs, servicing tropical fish filtration systems, basically anything to do with pets I have first hand experience with. Along with the every day customer service retail aspect of it, I have a good understanding of the business logistics such as stock rotation, doing inventory, upsells, product profit margins, interacting with company reps, attending pet trade conventions, placing orders from suppliers and setting up floor displays amongst other things. I took the course from Science Diet and got my certification as a Pet Nutrition Expert. When I turned 26, I resigned from my career there to pursue my EMT Career. I worked for 4 years as an Emergency Department Technician - EMT in the ER at Adventist Health Sonora. There my job duties included CPR, wound cleansing and irrigation, steri-stripping/gluing lacerations, ortho splinting, conscious sedations, applying supplemental oxygen, bleeding control, wound bandaging and assisting the doctors, practioners and nurses in various procedures including spinal taps, joint relocations, sutures, etc. I am experienced in handling difficult customers/patients including psychiatric patients, elderly persons with dementia... all the way down to pediatric patients who are just a little scared to see the doctor. I resigned from my job there to move out here to Las Vegas to pursue my dream of one day opening a non-profit canine rescue facility.
