Worked in the Admissions Office. Enrolled students and entered the information
on the computer. Responsible to make sure all students that were absent filled out absent notes and stamped their parent's/doctor's notes for re-admittance. Also, responsible for filling out their parent's and doctor's notes. Organized emergency cards and called out students when they were picked up by their parents, etc. Translated for the nurse, at the main office, magnet office, counselor's office, during some of the meetings between administration and the parents. I did most of the translating at Madison MS since I was the only Spanish speaking office technician at that time. Entered all of the notes on the system when the students would attend an event to make sure they were not marked absent. All the incoming telephone calls that needed translation would be routed to my office. Helped at the nurse's office. Faxed documents, filed and answered incoming calls for my department.
Helped my organization with workshops for lead teachers, nurses and cafeteria managers. Also helped with registration and set ups, tasting and sampling of the different produce, and helped prepared and organized for these events which would take place at different schools in the auditorium, for the most part. The dieticians that worked for Network for a Healthy California would teach the participants how to prepare different fruits and vegetables so they in turn would go back to their schools and prepare the produce and teach the students how to eat healthy. At the office, I helped with typing forms, entered information on the computer, filed and answered telephone calls. Also helped in the accounting department organize the many time sheets and other forms and entered information on the computer to speed up the process of teachers and other personnel getting paid faster, among other duties.
I was hired as the Special Ed Clerk for their Special Ed Department when I first started working at Roscoe ES. My responsibilities included preparing forms for the parents to attend IEP's meetings as well as the forms/packets given to the parents. Translated during many of the IEP's, (Bilingual: English/Spanish). Made copies of IEP's for parents and teachers, special ed teachers, nurses and other providers involved with the IEP's. Called the parents to remind them of their meetings. For a time, helped planned the IEP schedule. Ordered booklets and forms to have available for the parents. Answered incoming calls for our department and was in charge of the filing, among other duties. The IEP's were held in my office. Would help in the main office when necessary. Once my position was switched to Office Technician, I was moved to the main office, remained working mainly for the Special Ed Department but also had more responsibility helping out in the main office answering incoming phone calls, helping at the counter, helping teachers, faxing documents and filing.
