Currently working as a mystery shopper and having dealt with critical health related deliveries, I understand the importance of meeting deadlines and providing superior service. I have been employed in the customer service related fields for over 30 years. I have extensive supervisory experience within both the retail and courier industries. I also have a strong commitment to community having volunteered over 5000 hours as a firefighter and with the American Red Cross. I continue to donate blood on a regular basis and routinely support several ministries.
Routinely rated amongst the best managers to work with in the employee surveys.
Handled an average of 800 items an hour when on register or at the service desk.
When at Sears my discovery of a billing error resulted in the entire billing for a major parts supplier being overhauled nationwide for all of its customers. This resulted in savings of millions of dollars in potential lost inventory within Sears alone-not to mention the other companies that were also effected.
As a dispatcher for TransTime Express Courier Service I was responsible for the on time delivery of organs for transplant and blood for transfusion. I supervised up to 70 drivers at a time and knew the status of each driver and delivery at all times.
As a volunteer for the American Red Cross I provided First Aid at over 2000 events over a 10 year period. I also taught First Aid and CPR as well as taught people how to teach these classes.
As a volunteer firefighter I ran over 300 rescue calls in the Glen Echo, MD area over a 3 year period.
I routinely support 4 ministries and other charitable organizations.
I am a full time mystery shopper contracting with 61 different companies. I consistently score high on my report reviews and I am often called directly by schedulers to take last minute jobs to finish projects.
Assist with hiring and training front end personnel to include cart pushers, cashiers, customer service desk and .com desk personnel. Audit tills, address customer complaints and concerns, oversee break and lunch schedules and assist in any other area of the store as needed. This was everything from getting fish to selling hunting and fishing licenses to spill clean up. A relocation to Northern Virginia fell through and Mystery Shopping pays better.
Take customer orders for both rush and scheduled deliveries form Norfolk VA to Philadelphia, PA. Find and dispatch drivers to complete said deliveries and verify completion. Provide proof of delivery as needed. Bill clients and assist in collections. Supervise as many as 40 drivers at one time from a fleet of over 70. Do deliveries as needed to accommodate special circumstances. My car got totaled and I was no longer able to get to the office or to do deliveries. My next car was not in good enough shape to drive with reliability for this kind of work.
Responsible for all aspects of the courier business from sales to deliveries to billing to collections to janitorial services. When the two largest clients went bankrupt, so should I have.
Responsible for hiring and training customer service personnel and drivers. Assisted with scheduling both rush and scheduled deliveries and with the dispatching of said deliveries. Provided proof of delivery as needed. Billed clients and assisted in collections. I left to start my own company.
I placed all the parts orders to maintain a $64 million dollar inventory for service technicians covering the greater DC metropolitan area. I followed each order from placement to delivery and anticipated future needs to maintain an acceptable inventory level. I found a billing issue with a major parts supplier that turned out to effect every order placed to this manufacturer from every retailer it dealt with. It took 2 weeks and the calling of a man back from his daughter's wedding to get the glitch fixed. I was the only person in the country to notice a billing discrepancy and call them about it.
I was responsible for all aspects of running a chain drug store in a major metropolitan market. This included hiring and training all personnel except for pharmacists, loss prevention, maximizing sales, minimizing expenses (mostly payroll), store maintenance, ordering and inventory control. The company went out of business after a series of leveraged buyouts. At the end I was working 120 hour work weeks every week and needed a break from retail.
Two year business degree with an emphasis on accounting. GPA 4.0
I am two classes away from my Bachelor's Degree but have not had the financial resources to complete this degree. My daughter's difficult pregnancy required my resources and my time and I have not had the chance to go back yet. I have a healthy grandson to show for my sacrifice though.
