Additional Information

With confidence I can share that my background is akin to an outlier's. Music and creativity have in many ways saved me from going off the rails, particularly in my youth. This reality deeply impacts my approach and sensitivity to instructing others in the joy of music, perhaps moreso with children and teens. What comes naturally to me as a teaching artist of 25+years is that there is no one particular way to learn, no one particular way to teach. When I begin with an individual or group class, my first task is to take them in, learn about "what is", before diving in to what we'll do together. Ideas tend to grow quite naturally from this process and we build goals for what we're going to create together. Since the mid 1990's I have taught in private and public schools in NM, NY, CT, IL, and now CO as a music teacher, choir director, music theater director, theater director, choreographer, producer, and creative consultant. What's kept me in balance for much of that time is the energy and time I invest into my own creative endeavors.
