This position requires a high degree of independent judgment and initiative in response to complex, sensitive issues, decision making, and discretion. A large part of my position with Fairbanks Memorial is credentialing. It's the process used to evaluate the qualifications and practice history of physician applying for membership and clinical privileges. Privileges are those procedures a physician can perform within his/her specialty. This process includes reviewing and verifying completed education, training, residency, licenses, and affiliations. It also includes any board certifications in that doctor's specialty. You're seeking, obtaining, and reviewing large amounts of data. Compiling that data and then looking at it as a whole, identifying and tracking trends. The ultimate goal is patient safety and protecting the hospital. Doctors on staff go through a similar process called reappointment – again, its verifying competency, reviewing any legal claims, etc. All this information is compiled and then presented to a credentials committee where all the data is reviewed and recommendations for approval are made. Another large part of my job within FMH is owning department meetings. Which includes scheduling, coordinating, making sure the information the physicians need is there and attending to take meeting minutes at every department meeting assigned to me. Software: Morrissey – Credentialing Software, delineates clinical privileges and staff categories. Premiere – Statistical Database – Patient data, mortality rate, inpatient vs. outpatientAS400 – Provider Information, activating ordering capabilities within the facility National Practitioner Database Verge – Microsoft Office Suite Adobe.
