I started off at Friday's as a host. I then progressed to being a server as well as expo. Over time, I learned fry, plate nacho, saute, and even memorized 95% of our prep. I was also a "coach," meaning that I trained all of the new employees. I was even put in charge of all the hosts from the five stores in our district at a seminar. In addition to the "restaurant" aspect of the job, I also became the restaurant accountant and pulled key hourly shifts (manager when other managers were out of the store).
As the restaurant accountant, I was responsible for paying invoices, placing orders, going through waste reports to determine errors, accounting for monthly accruals, payroll, and other various administrative tasks. I knew and understood the food cost, labor cost, supply cost, etc. I was also in charge of local store marketing and making the schedule for servers and hosts. After being there the amount of time that I had, I chose to leave the company to acquire more skills and gain more experience in a role with more authority.
I remained on the Dean's LIst throughout my entire academic career, and I was an active member of various clubs including Beta Club, French Club, and Do Something Club.
I was a double major in biology and chemistry and a minor in psychology. My bachelors degree is not yet completed due to the fact that I moved home for personal reasons. I plan to start school again next semester.
