Have been working since I was 13 years old. That is 37 years of knowledge. I started from delivering newspaper to running the business at 17 years of age. I learn when someone callout or sick how a smooth operation now was bumpy. I came to owner with the idea of cross training routes. I was prepare with how this could be done. Soon we no longer had any more bumpy days. I always needed to know what others did. The more I knew gave me the key to grow.
I started as a driver for Quick International and within 2 years I was international shipping supervisor. Not because I was train. It was do to me watching and asking questions how packages got to all these foreign countries. Employee quit and company was in disarray do to employee quitting. Step up and said I can do it. They at first said no. Again said I can do the job.One day later I was the International Shipping Supervisor. Believe in myself and little by little learn a new position.
I have been Best Buy Loss Prevention and had no knowledge. Knew I could do it. Then flew to Minnesota for training. Learn new skill sets. I then found myself speaking in front of hundreds of employees. Then started a career in Loss Prevention . Best Buy, Lowe's,Shaws,Hannaford,Proctor&Gamble,An Tua Nua. I learn about inventory and store budgets. How important this is. Became very successful in a career were I dealt with the worst of people but learn how to be patience with people many are afraid of. This prepared me for deal with external theft which can be very personal. Had a job to do and my personal feelings had to be put to the side. This is a skill set that a college diploma does not teach you.
37 years I have recover over a million dollars. Safety record that never had a blemish do to hard work and respect from employees and zero customers ever hurt do to employees knowing how important safety is. They knew it was not just something in a book. It is knowledge to prevent a accident before it happens. There is no short cuts when someone could be hurt. It could be someone they care about. The key is no question is to stupid. To make people feel they can approach you. To have the knowledge in multiple positions in a company. Never afraid to get hands dirty. Sometimes people see better than they hear. Show them both.

Started own business do to relocation and at same time was taking care of late wife. This was small business after many years working for Best Buy and other larger companies. This was start up company and work out of home since was needed to take care of everyday health issues.
Business was to buy and sell with profit margin of 30%. Have been in Loss Prevention or Asset Protection field for majority of adult life and accomplished most in this field. This include inventory control of major companies losses or many call shrink. This gave keys to understanding budgets,Loss threw inventory or internal,external theft. Took chance because believe in myself but at same time having to do something had never prepare for in life. Success was small in some ways but larger do to what had to over come while trying to start own company from scratch. Had company had its ups and downs. This was first time was in charge with own money. Do believe this gave ability to even better understand what it takes to not fail know matter what job title. Not everything can be found in a search. Real job skills are more than few words but how got here and the gains I made. Greatest skill was using all I have learn from prior jobs and using them in my new life goals.
Walk into Walmart looking for seasonal help. By end of interview was was offer shipping supervisor position. Work history and knowledge became valuable to Walmart.
Goal was to attain unloading of trucks in set time limit. Which for over year was no longer being reach. Also getting merchandise to floor for night shift crew members. To give as much time as possible to restock and have store prepared for next day opening.
Was also ask to help with safety of store and hazardous materials. Previous knowledge allow me to help with two positions of trouble.
To be honest why department was not reaching standards of Walmart.
To be in control of all high end merchandise and inventory numbers to be correct off of delivery trucks.
To report all inventory mistakes before merchandise touch store shelves.
Manager of security team and safety of all patrons. Hire to fix high number of incidents and to prevent theft to club and patrons.
Was giving control to use new thinking to solve old problem. Within 6 months club went from being just another night club to place employee's wanted to work for and all who came to have safe night. This cause club to grow just by word of mouth that this was place that all had fun and went home safe.
Added dress code and better team members that knew had high standard and not size got job. Work well with staff and to know less said was always better. As hand signals were used. To stop problem before it became one was goal.
To be aware of female patrons who did not seem to be leaving by there own power. To make sure even if had to pay for cab, patron who was being escorted out was handle with respect. Even if could not remember. This cause huge increase of women patrons who felt safe that had made place safer than many clubs in Fenway Park Area.
Went 2 years without incident that never brought us in front of Boston State board during that time. For any club is amazing feat.
This was grand opening of new B.J Wholesales. Started on night shift do to position for day time was fill by employee from another B.J Wholesales store. Was willing to wait for position to open. Have work night shift before and knew problems could run into and did.
In charge of employee's leaving and coming do to shift change. In charge of unloading of trucks and locking up all expensive merchandise and high theft items.
During this time team had many employees quit or call in. Were short staff every night. So help to stock shelves and organize merchandise so it was within reach for all customers. Was never hire for this part . Knew this would leave store not done and customers safety could be issue. As every night check all racking and warehouse integrity.
handle many duties that did not fall under what was hire for. Apart of team and failure was not going to be because of job description. What was important that customers happy and everyone left work safely.
