I am pursuing a career in acting because I am a talented individual with a desire to inspire others. Everyone has left the theater with that feeling of overwhelming emotion and I want to be a part of making that happen. I personally have never felt this more than when I left the theater after watching Star Wars. I want to be a part of this amazing story that has been a substantial part of the lives of so many people around the world.
During high school I was responsible for taking a group of incoming freshman and getting them used to high school and "showing them the ropes". It was a challenging job because most incoming freshman are to busy trying to be cool, rather than cutting loose and enjoying themselves.
I currently work at Canfield's Sporting Goods where I am responsible for many of the same tasks I performed at JCPenneys. I have much more responsibility at Canfield's and am expected to know a lot about products and then convey that information to customers in a way they will understand. I am often put on the spot in this job because many customers want to know the specifics of a product. I have learned how to act in certain situations to keep customers calm and collected.
While at JCPenney, I was responsible for many tasks such as pricing products, restocking, maintaining a clean environment, and most importantly assisting customers. In this job I was often put on the spot and forced to think on my feet. I never received a negative comment, and was later offered a leadership position in customer service at a different company that I turned down for my current position.
While working as a cabin counselor I engaged in leading camp songs and some scripture lessons. I was responsible for putting together a lesson together and teaching it the same day. I did this job on multiple occasions. I also performed in skits the cabins did in competition with each other.
I graduated in the top 15% in a class of 356. My final GPA was just above a 3.5. In high school I participated in drama and gained experience in one act plays and student directed plays. I always wanted to do the plays and performances but because of the large size of the school, they ran into sports. I attended live theater productions in hopes of learning about acting by watching. I also took public speaking in high school where I became a lot more comfortable speaking in front of people.
Dean's list- Fall 2012
Studied performing arts in the fall.
I am currently an international studies major at the University of Nebraska- Omaha. The best part about my current major is getting to interact with so many different kinds of people and learning to see the world through many lenses.
