I recently completed a map for the new 22 mile bike trail loop that encompasses the local Shingobee creek watershed of Walker, MN. The map was difficult to make as the trail committee wanted a lot of information on a simple letter sized map. One feature of the map is a trail profile of an extremely hilly portion of the trail. For the profile graph I used the 3D analyst extension in ArcGIS and then ran a LOESS regression algorithm to smooth out the look of the terrain for visual interpretation. This was a volunteer project and it will assist me in gaining my GIS Professional certification this summer.
I enjoy most all outdoor activities such as biking, hiking, fishing, hunting, and playing soccer whenever possible.
