I am the charge nurse for 47 residents. I delegate responsibilites to CNA's
I maintain all safety for residents. I oversee all aspects of the unit, including safety, activities, meals and medication administration. Interact with family members on a daily basis, as well as confer with the Physicians.
The main area I focused in, was the Alzheimer/Dementia Unit. However, I worked on the Skilled and Rehab units as well. I was utilized throughout the facility. I would pick up any extra shifts where I was needed. I was a Charge Nurse. I had to leave the position due to an immediate member of my family became critically ill. I had to go out of state to attend to the situation.
I was a Charge Nurse on Highly skilled unit. I had 32 residents. Numerous G-Tubes, Traches, I.V.s and H.I.V.+ residents. Very fast paced. Numerous admissions on a daily basis. I worked on the unit until Feb. of 2001. I was asked to move to the Rehab Unit, due to the need of a strong admissions nurse. I was told that I worked very well independently. I was informed by my Directer, that she needed a strong confident individual.
In April of 2001, My parents were almost killed by a drunk driver, and I had to resign my position at that time, due to I had to go and care for them after their hospital stay due to surgery.
I was offered employment on a rehab unit. I was moved to various units on a daily basis due to low census. My unit was closed. There were no hours for me to obtain. I submitted my resignation, and took a position at Brownsboro Hills in Nov. of 2009.
