As one of the first team members of the Utah's Health & Economic Recovery Outreach (HERO) Project, I assisted in identifying the current rate of infection in Utah during the height of the pandemic. Recognized changes in infection rates including undetected and asymptomatic cases for individuals with COVID-19 and improvements in detection rates with the goal is to help Utah's citizens and economy return to normal in a safe and informed way. Sponsored by the Governor's Office of Management and Budget to accurately determine how much COVID-19 has spread in Utah without testing every person in the state, I knocked door to door exercising COVID friendly guidelines on randomly selected households and facilitating voluntary web surveys to residents to better understand the rate of infection among Utah residents. The Utah COVID-19 project provided rapid information to Utah decision-makers regarding COVID-19, or coronavirus, infection rates.
