Head Plant Operator , 03/2009 to 12/2015
Fedex Cross Border – Waite Park
As the head plant operator for the Knott County Regional Treatment Plant I had many job duties and responsibilities. My first and foremost was running the treatment facility. The plant took water from a surface water source, Carr Creek Lake, and we used an actiflo treatment process to remove as much turbidity as possible before filtration. Then the finished water was chlorinated and fluoridated before being pumped into a large storage tank to be dispersed throughout the county as well as other counties and wholesale buyers. The process is very involved and required constant monitoring and changing. I trained others and new employees on how to operate all the different processes of the treatment system. I also recorded all daily work into log books for easier communication to other shifts as well as keeping a good history of issues and resolutions for issues within the plant. I continuously monitored and sampled water at different points in the process to ensure efficient treatment. I done all lab work and extensive reporting to our governing agency, Kentucky Division of Water. There were many reports due each month that I completed, such as water withdrawals, monthly operating reports, and consumer confidence reports due annually. I always reported to a board of directors each month as well. I overseen projects, big and small, I worked with engineers and contractors, and day to day customers and coworkers. I generated work schedules for plant operators and adjusted as needed. I was in charge of all ordering of any chemicals, distribution needs, office supplies or anything else that was to be ordered. I also kept a good housecleaning schedule for all employees and work areas to keep a nice looking, professional work place that all visitors were impressed by.
Owner, 05/2005 to 09/2011
Accor Hotels – Wailea , HI
I owned and operated a small lawn care business that operated mainly in the local area or within 60 miles of it. I employed two other workers as well as myself, depending on how many jobs that were to be completed. I initiated this business by word of mouth. I mowed grass, cut weeds, and landscaped on my own during summer months. As I took on extra jobs I was able to invest back into the business to buy more equipment and also pay another worker, which allowed me to take on more and larger jobs. We mostly mowed and cut weeds but gradually began working landscaping jobs as well. I really enjoyed seeing how great a place looked after we had finished and the customers were always so encouraging and appreciative of the finished product. I did do some marketing and advertising. I placed flyers at local businesses and also handed out business cards to customers and potential customers. It was very enjoyable work and was very successful during summer months but it was seasonal work.
Head Bartender , 01/2005 to 05/2005
Accor Hotels – Honolulu , HI
Buffalo Wild Wings opened a new location in Morehead, Ky and I was hired on as the initial head bartender. I already had extensive experience as a bartender as well as a professional bartender license. I completed STARR training along with all the other employees which basically is training to help you become a professional and successful waiter/waitress/bartender. I was responsible for scheduling, preparing orders for the bar, cleaning checklists/schedules, and I reported to the resturant manager. I created my own drinks, as I had at other establishments, and placed on daily specials. I worked with all the other bartenders and servers in a highly busy but highly fun atmosphere. I worked with the POS system and helped train new employees. I took care of all customers needs and any concerns they might have had. I really loved working here but had to move home and work for the following summer.
Housing Staff, 08/2001 to 05/2004
Schulte Hospitality Group – Morehead City , NC
I worked for the university housing department as a federal work study during the semester and as full time employee during the summers. Myself, along with a couple other students, worked in and around the campus and all the dorms. We took any complaints from students that had issues with their dorms or furniture in the dorms and we fixed them. I drove the university van to and from the warehouse and sometimes assisted the full time university employees on bigger jobs. I really learned a lot about fixing all different kinds of furniture or equipment around campus. I worked for the university and had evening jobs as well.

Cache Creek Casino Resort – Brooks , CA
I started out serving in the cafe then I went to Lexington, Kentucky and took courses at a local bartending school and received my professional bartender's license. I then began working in our new bar and worked into the head bartending position. I really enjoyed working in the hotel bar atmosphere because I got to meet so many different people and all different types of preferred drinks and ideas. I learned a lot about different wines and higher end tastes. I was able to compile my own specific beer/wine/drinks lists and prices. I learned a lot about the hospitality industry working here and how the business side of things was so important in running a successful establishment.

Bartender, 01/2003 to 05/2005
One On One Bar And Grill – City , STATE
I worked for One on One while I also attended Morehead State University and held other jobs. I usually worked here on just the busiest nights. Sometimes I would come in on the fly around 10 pm or sometimes I would come in early and work a full 8 hour shift. I worked with 3 other bartenders and it was a really successful and fun atmosphere to work in. We had a college night on Wednesdays and more of the hometown crowds through the weekend. I completed all the usual bartending duties such as stocking coolers, beer, ice, cleaning all bar areas, cutting and stocking garnishes, running tabs, compiling reorder lists, and anything else that was asked of me. We ran different special promotions on different nights and holidays as well as the weekly promotions. It was an extremely busy and crowded bar with its own unique ways of doing things that I really enjoyed. I love servicing the large crowds and still being able to provide good service to individuals.
