I am a fourth-year undergraduate student at Rutgers University who is part of the Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy. My major is Public Health. Previously I received my Certified Medical Assistant title and acquired my A.S Associate in Science degree.
My experience in lab, patient, and office settings allows me to adapt quickly. My wide range of experience on the clinical side of things, in combination with my Rutgers Public Health education, has helped shape me into a more well-rounded individual. During my undergraduate years, I have been able to establish good research skills. These research skills assure that my abilities to interpret data are effective and efficient. During my research endeavors I have been exposed to programs such as IBM SPSS and R. Considering all of this public health surveillance is something I am well equipped to do.
In 2019 I started working in a healthcare setting doing clerical work and was able to evaluate how things run. At this time, I was also able to learn basic office procedures. At this job Microsoft Excel was used daily, as well as Cerner and Epic systems. In 2020 when I received my CMA Certified Medical Assistant title, I was hired in a urology office where I was able to perform in-office procedures alongside a doctor, take vitals, and remove and place catheters. Maintaining the standard of care for all patients and following all protocols was a top priority. At this time I also received my BLS Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association. Shortly after I received my Associate Degree in Science. My graduation from Rutgers for my B.S. Public Health degree is set for December 2023.
Public health is the big picture, and when working in this field the amount of impact that can be made is substantial. My passion for direct patient care, along with my public health perspective makes me a well-rounded applicant who can see things from many different perspectives based on the needs of the situation.

Externship:
I did my externship at Ocean County Foot and Ankle where I took intakes of the patients, entered information into the EMR system, and relayed information to the patients doctor. I answered all questions that I was permitted to answer, and advised them to ask their doctor for more specific information. I created a safe environment by being friendly, and attentive to the patients needs.
