I am responsible for our 2400 acre forested property of which 300 acres of that is considered developed landscape manicured grounds ie, athletic fields, lawns and planting beds, native spaces, guest spaces, outdoor activity sites, 3 acre waterfront, drainage and erosion control. All forms of irrigation from maintenance to new install and controller programming and valves. Ordering, procuring, growing plant and shrub medium. I also apply and teach my staff the safe and proper way to mix and apply herbicides.
I also oversee the forest thinning and forest restoration of the other 2100 acres. From forest fire mitigation in the Wildland Urban Interface, to pile burning, chipping and mastication in our forest. With the backing and relationships built with State Forestry and funding from the NRCS I was able to connect with contractors to bid projects. Because of this work I became a certified Wildland Firefighter as an added resource for camp during fire and monsoon season.
I am responsible for overseeing the Wastewater/ Water operators and plant operations that supply water and treat wastewater to camp housing and camp facilities.
I am responsible for the fleet vehicles of camp. I oversee the camp mechanic, the purchasing of new vehicles, equipment, parts, fuel and scheduling the repairs and the use of the vehicles and equipment through our app. I train summer staff and full time staff on vehicle use and safety.
I am responsible for managing our waste services contract for trash and recycling which changes throughout the year depending on guest numbers.
I am also responsible for field related safety such as campus security when children are on property. I respond to gunfire on property when hunters have trespassed or people who should not be on property are roaming around. I am responsible for wildlife situations such as responding to bears, cougars, snakes, bats, skunks, etc
With coordination with the Executive Director, I oversee the maintenance and construction of our 19 miles of hiking and mountain bike trails on property.
I am also responsible for snow removal on property; roads and walkways. Purchasing cinder, ice melt, shovels and making sure snow plows are ready before storms arrive.
I oversee the budgets for Grounds, Fleet and Wastewater.
Parks Maintenance of city parks and trails. Maintained the 60 miles of city maintained trails with the use of mechanical equipment such as weed eaters, chemical sprayers and tractors. Responsible for mowing, edging, trimming, planting, tree trimming, picnic table maintenance, trash removal, public athletic field maintenance and prep for sports leagues, emergency response, all forms of irrigation maintenance, repair, scheduling. Passed 4 herbicide exams on the first try, but were non transferable to OR
