The SRC, appointed by the Governor of Pennsylvania and the Mayor of Philadelphia, governs the Philadelphia School District (SDP) which is the eighth largest school district in the nation. The SRC is the fiduciary of the District, drives policy, and has ultimate oversight of the District's educational programs. The School Reform Commission also serves as the charter school authorizing body in Philadelphia.
