New York, NY Grade Level: GS-6-10 40 hours/week Please contact me first As part of 15-person dental assistant team, I have provided administrative services and dental assistance to Veterans, directly assisting as many as 12 patients per day. ADMINISTRATION Provide administrative and office support for customer service and patient care. Schedule, confirm and reschedule patient appointments. Receive phone calls and inquiries, providing information and answering questions. Write letters to patients, pre- and post-op care instructions and reports; maintain patient records and charts, including dental and medical history. I type draft and finalize versions of policies, standard operating procedures. I coach, instruct, and mentor high-tech computerized equipment. Maintain supply levels in examination rooms and work with supply specialist to replenish inventory. CUSTOMER SERVICE Provide a range of customer service to patients, including instruction in preventative, pre- and post-operative care. Demonstrate dental and medical techniques, inform patients on product use and answer questions. As needed, translate instructions to Spanish. Also, provide liaison support to other departments and serve as point of contact. RECORDS MANAGEMENT Oversee office records management program for dental department in VA hospital, with 23,000 patients annually. Track and inventory paper records and files. Archive or destroy records according to federal policy, preparing and shipping paper records to national archives as appropriated by Service Chief. Dispose of records not required to be archived when instructed. Protect sensitive electronic and printed data, ensuring compliance with Privacy Act of 1974, HIPAA and other applicable laws, federal regulations and department/agency policies. I am currently participating in implementation of Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS). Meet quarterly with records management staff from other hospital departments. overseeing the Federal Women's Programs, Women's History Month, Women's Equality Day and Diversity Day for the African American Club. Plan and coordinate program events, including training sessions, speakers and displays. Schedule and arrange for Congressional speakers, reserve rooms, prepare educational literature and arrange for transportation, and refreshments. Also, from 2009 to present, request, coordinate and receive presidential proclamations. Prepare and present sessions, covering educational, cuisine and trivia topics and information. I direct volunteers to support and execute events, with an average of 20 to 50 attendees up to four times per year.
