In 2007 i started my first waitress job at Red Lobster, I absolutely loved it, given the opportunity to be apart of family dinners, by assisting there needs and provide great hospitality. I moved to Victoria, where I was able to transfer to Red Lobster here, I was giving to opportunity to open up Buffalo Wild Wings as a bartender in late 2010. I was excited, I never bartend before, I was always just the waitress, I told my recruiter, I want to be taught the right way, no short cuts, he himself was a former bartending that opened Buffalo Wild wings as the bar manager.
The looked at me and said Suzanne you are gonna do great, u got the speed, multi tasks, fit in very well with others, and you have the mentality to take any obstacles that comes your way. I was able to greet my guest that come in and eventually learn the regulars and what they drink while I'm still able to make drinks for the servers tables, keeping track of who gots what and keeping it on the right guest ticket. keeping in mind of how important is it to ID everyone and keeping them below there BAC,
sharing register with the other bartender making sure were communicating when were trading anything out the draw with either a server needing change, a guest paying with cash, or the manager getting us change.
I was Wing certified after about a year.
I stayed there for 5 years and attended Victoria beauty College, and graduated in 2014.
I loved it, whole new atmosphere, it was a little tough at first being that I came from a job i was going 100 mph, to I have to take my time.
I eventually mastered that. It just wasn't me, my mind wanted more of a challenge. I went back to bartendering for awhile. One day I had a couple walk in with their teenage son, I was training another employee that day, hes first ever server job, I greeted the family introduced myself as well as my trainee and insured them 100% great hospitality. And that's exactly what they got. I'm am highly confident in customer service as well as leadership. The gentleman ask me a few questions about my future. He was very impressed with how professional and how calm collective and friendly i was. He (Matthew Boyle)offered me a full time job as a shift leader at Post acute Medical in dietary where he was the Director of dietary. I was hesitant to take it because going to tip job to an hourly job,I was used to the everyday money, I could pass up it was my opportunity to continue to move forward. That was from 2017 thru 2019. There we prepared specific meals with strict diets for each patients, served them 3 meals a day and any request that was ok with their diet, we offered the staff and any guest breakfast and lunch at a reasonable price. Prepped for the next day. Keeping our waste count to the minimum. Ordering enough of everyrhing for the week, keeping that as well below food cost.
In September 2019 my My dad got sick and I wanted to be there with him as much as possible so I took time off, day my day my dad got better I started taking online courses in leadership and management to learn more.
