I am currently working in the Maximum security unit- overseeing between 80 and 90 inmates that are classified as maximum security either due to their original charges or disciplinary infractions that have made them maximum security. I make rounds on a bi-weekly basis to check on incarcerated individuals and ensure their needs are being met. I perform Initial evaluations that assess them for needed programs while incarcerated. Assessed and wrote treatment plans and weekly progress notes for each client assigned to caseload. I currently write 6 month reports on inmates housed in maximum security that get signed off by the Commissioner of the Department of Corrections and I implement road maps for each inmate housed here that gives the offender a realistic view on why that are in maximum security and how they can work on getting back out/into general population.
Youth Counselor working on the floor with committed youth. I enforce routines, rules, positive role modeling, positive peer interactions, positive social interactions. Work on both individual and group levels with the committed youth so they can obtain skills needed to become reunited with their families and their communities.
I was a Youth Counselor/Tracker for youth involved with Juvenile Probation and Parole. I met with youth on a daily basis to enforce their daily activities and court ordered programs, community services, drug court etc. I also ensured that the youth were attending school as required and meeting requirements of their educational needs. I was part of the NH Drug Courts for Juveniles when it first started. That entailed reporting on a weekly basis to a Judge with the youth and their families and describing their behaviors over the past week. I was tasked with performing random drug tests.
I attended University of Massachusetts for two years after obtaining my Associates Degree. I graduated in June of 1998 with my Bachelor's of Science in Criminal Justice.
