I have been a Contact Representative at the Chicago Teleservice Center since 09/28/2008 to the present .
My duties include assisting SSA customers by telephone and correspondence dealing with Social Security programs, and by having the knowledge of the laws, regulations, procedures and policies that apply to each program SSA administers.
I also demonstrate my knowledge of the systems used by SSA to address the specific needs of the customers, and respond in an effective, courteous, and tactful manner .These customers include beneficiaries, representative payees, attorneys and the general public . It is my duty to determine the nature of the caller's interest or problem. After properly identifying the caller, I provide them with information regarding their benefits, and resolve the appropriate problems / discrepancies .
I provide information, advice or instructions about retirement, survivors, disability and health insurance programs, and the Black Lung Program .
I also answer questions concerning Supplemental Security Income programs to beneficiaries and inquiries by telephone and or / correspondence.
I conduct interviews to determine the nature of problem, explain technical provisions, elicit relevant facts and resolve problems with payments or eligibility. I provide information, advice and instruction about program eligibility, benefit payments and reporting requirements affecting entitlement .
I provide assistance with completion of required forms, notices, reports and needed social services referrals to supervisors or other organizational components. As needed , I perform a variety of clerical and data entry functions in processing various TSC workloads. My duties also include, but not limited to, relating information to callers of the Social Security Administration's (SSA) national 800 number within the Chicago Teleservice Center . I often explain and interpret various complex issues regarding, Social Security's law, regulations and procedures .
I implemented security-screening procedures that were central to the Transportation Security Administrations (TSA) objectives and that served to protect the traveling public by preventing deadly and dangerous objects from being transported onto commercial aircraft.
