  • I am in charge of a production shop that consists of 20 people split between 2 shifts.
  • I address all of the administrative and disciplinary actions, conflict management and resolution, information dispersion, personnel issues, as well as pay and leave matters.
  • I counsel and advise employees, evaluate performance, recommend and approve training and development, recommend recognition and promotion, and initiate appropriate remedial action for performance or conduct deficiencies.
  • I provide, identify, and define administrative requirements of specific technical, training, exercise and support areas for different programs and projects in accordance with the 4790, OSHA, NAVOSH, FRCSW Safety, ISO 14001, AS9110, AND AS9100, as it pertains to troubleshooting, repairing, calibrating components, qualifying and protecting personnel and the environment in which these duties are performed with proper training and Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • I develop, plan, and recommend budget projections for and communicate regularly with Business Financial Managers, Item Managers, Program Managers, IPT's, and Deputy IPT's.
  • Engineering, Defense Logistics Personnel, Logisticians and Production Control to ensure the budget plan is obtainable.
  • These duties include acquiring organizational support and capabilities for specific programs in order to declare capability for specific instruments and adjust quarterly workload by understanding and managing risk factors, unforeseen issues, and managing personnel of varying skill levels to optimize production.
  • I preform physical inventory counts, monitor physical inventory results, review inventory record management reports, compare inventory records, process cancellations and deny issue I research, identify, and analyze program requirements and problems for projected and planned shop programs for the quarter and relay this information to the DIPT, IPT, Item Managers, Engineering, and upper management stakeholders so they can be persuaded to accept ideas and concepts that are goal related.
  • I plan, prepare and conduct analysis of personnel to facilitate completion of long range planning documents, as well as specialized and general programs.
  • I develop and coordinate all aspects of my shop's organizational support and capabilities.
  • These duties include, tool control, calibration, Electrostatic Discharge (ESD), Foreign Object Damage (FOD), locating Individual Material Readiness List ( IMRL) gear, Safety, Hazmat, Hazardous Waste, Managing Individual Qualification Records (IQRs) to ensure the artisan is currently qualified to perform the task.
  • I also order parts, write Beyond Economical Repair Reports (BER's) and RIIR's I Investigate and resolve discrepancies and gather/analyze information which includes researching gains/losses resulting from physical inventory counts from non-accountable activities and inventory adjustment trends and accountable activities.
  • I plan, coordinate and execute special mission requirements to support sales, and mission requirements of controlled property.
  • I develop and coordinate all aspects of contracts related to procuring short and long term calibration work and the purchasing of items involving many different varying parts depending on the shops need and customer demand.
  • I write sole source documents and urgency impact statements to ensure the contract is upheld by the specific customer for the specific part and time allotted .I monitor inventory statistics, analyze trends, identify problems and develop recommendations for improvement I develop and coordinate budget preparation guidance with the upper level managers.
  • I develop effective management plans for assigned projects and personnel by providing advice and guidance to IPT members on plans, schedules, methods, policies, and objectives.
  • I plan, coordinate and direct the activities of personnel I manage an annual budget of direct and indirect funds that include training, materials, contracts and resources.
  • I maintain overall technical data management for assigned systems and programs associated with the shop.
  • I develop strategic and tactical long range plans for personnel and information management in accordance with organizational missions and goals to ensure optimum production output.
  • I participate in the Airspeed Continuous Process Improvement LEAN events.

  • To do this I maintain constant communication with several entities; 1) Production Control to regulate inducted workloads, 2) the Defense Logistic Agency (DLA) to procure parts and obtain estimated completion dates.
  • I use this information to adjust the available human resource to ensure bottlenecks are removed and everyone remains gainfully employed.
  • 3) The engineering department to evaluate and certify new parts and processes into the ever evolving rework facility.
