  • Applicant has been a part of three different post and pre storm preparations. These preparations consisted of making sure that all vital supplies were in place. These preparations ensured that all essential equipment was stored and secured.
  • Contacted suppliers for quotes on project materials to determine best possible pricing.
  • Conducted onsite inspections and prepared takeoffs for engineering project costing.
  • Applicant worked tirelessly to ensure that Base Miami Beach procured materials and services to replace all storm doors and windows in the most cost efficient manner. Applicant ensured that all scrap materials were obtained to cash in to benefit the unit's Morale fund. These funds accounted for almost ten thousand dollars that was used and dispersed to the unit and the surrounding units in the area.
  • Applicant had an important role in the unit's bridge project. Applicant recognized that the unit's only bridge had sunk at an alarming rate at an inch per month. It was contributed to construction work that was being performed at a neighboring property. Applicant stayed in constant contact with the Coast Guard's Civil Engineering unit. Applicant was able to obtain the scope of work and was able to translate it to his superiors and subordinates.
  • Applicant was able to research, procure and install a new security barrier for the unit.
  • Applicant was in charge of the procurement and overall maintenance of the unit's service vehicles.
  • Applicant served as the lead Petty Officer for the Unit's Machinery Technician Shop. This position carried the responsibility of supervising twenty five subordinates. As a supervisor the applicant was instrumental in ensuring that the vast majority of the subordinates advanced to the next rank and successfully ensured that they went on to attend class A schools for their rating. Applicant also provided a path for several subordinates to attend college courses. Applicant did this by providing a path for funding.
  • Applicant maintained the unit's preventive maintenance system. Serving in a supervisory role applicant ensured that the unit maintained a completion rate of 100% for FY 2019 and was close to do the same for 2020. Applicant's proficiency in the unit's PMS system made it possible for him to train his successor.
  • As a supervisor applicant was responsible for marking each subordinate with bi-annual performance evaluations. Applicant did this by sitting down with each subordinate between every marking period and giving them pointers on how to improve their performance. This way of critiquing job performance proved to be the most effective way to improve job performance. In the last tow years the applicant had eleven subordinates achieve the next pay grade.
  • DUring this time frame applicant was responsible for putting three different food drives together that netted over eleven thousand pounds of food for local food banks. These efforts proved to be the best collection of food amongst the departments for three years straight.
  • Applicant recognized that two of the unit's buildings had an infestation of sub-Turanian termites. Applicant was able to procure the services of pest control experts and was able to minimize the down time of each building.
  • Wrote technical reports documenting project progress and specifications.
  • Advised industrial staff and offered technical insight regarding design, construction and repair work.
