State of LA v. Holland McMorris

The defendant pled guilty and received a 99 year sentence for several counts of aggravated incest and forcible rape for the continuous exploitation of minor children.


State of LA v. Russell Ware

A two day trial, where the defendant was found guilty as charged of the offenses of aggravated rape and sexual battery of a minor child.


State of LA v. Eddie Ray Jackson

Three day trial where evidence was presented that the defendant, a stranger, stalked his victim, a single mother of two, and raped her vaginally and anally with her young children asleep in the next room. DNA evidence in Codis matched DNA evidence of the perpetrator over a year later. The statistical data demonstrated a significance of 1 in a 126,000,000,000,000,000 (quadrillion). The defendant was found guilty of forcible rape.








State of LA v. Marcus McCray

Two day trial where the defendant was found guilty of second degree murder for killing his live-in girlfriend by manual strangulation and asphyxiation with an iron cord, plastic bag, and bludgeoning. The defendant then disposed of the victim’s body in a trash dumpster. The jury found the defendant guilty as charged.


State of LA v. Michael Howard

Three day trial, where the defendant after arguing with his girlfriend, the victim, struck her in the face with an ax approximately six (6) times, killing her in the presence of her children. The jury returned a unanimous verdict of guilty as charged in 45 minutes.


State of LA v. Fred Gradley and Cedric Howard

Both defendants were charged with first degree murder for the brutal murder of 82 year old Rita Rabalais. The victim was beaten, stabbed and bludgeoned, and her body was discovered when concern grew because she missed her weekly church service. Both defendants were found guilty as charged and sentenced to death.


State of LA v. Phillip Johnson

After this week long trial, the defendant was found guilty as charged of the offense of forcible rape of his wife. This was the first spousal rape conviction in Rapides Parish.
