Accomplished Chief Deputy with 13 years of experience building and directing effective officers. Demonstrated expertise in patrol and investigations. Dedicated to maintaining security and safety for citizens by continually updating department procedures.

In these 13 years I have gone from basic patrol functions to narcotics investigations to leadership functions. I have worked in criminal investigations in this community for the Dalhart Police Department. I have worked hard to obtain three college degrees related to my field of work. I have worked hard in my field to obtain my Master's Peace Officer certification.

During my time as Chief Deputy I have been trained and now am a certified firearms instructor as well as a pistol mounted optics firearm instructor. I also took and passed the Texas Jail Administrators exam through TCOLE. I write annual grants for the Sheriff's Office resulting in better equipment and training opportunities for our staff. I became a member of the International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers association and recently attended a 1 week training conference in Missouri. I attended many classes, mostly related to active shooters and school shooting. I managed to become a stop stick instructors at this conference.

I have re-written and have had or agency policy approved as well as handled all investigations of misconduct and policy violations. I have reviewed criminal and officer misconduct allegations and reported findings and recommendations to the Sheriff. I delegate and approve all training and supervise all patrol functions. I maintain TCOLE records and ensure everyone meets mandated training requirements to include firearms training and qualifications.

During my time in the Army, I grew to the rank of Sergeant. I performed roles such as infantry radio operator, infantry team leader, infantry squad leader and Bradley Fighting Vehicle driver, gunner and commander. I served in Kuwait in 1999-2001, Korea 1999-2000 and Iraq the year of 2005. While in Iraq I served as a gun truck commander and ultimately convoy commander after my supervisor was KIA. I was responsible for up to four gun truck crews and the numerous people and items of equipments we escorted across the country.

I have grown to love my profession and the people I serve. I strive to create the best team possible to ensure laws are enforced effectively, appropriately and fairly. I love to set goals for myself and those around me. I believe there is always room to grow and improve and even the old and experienced can learn.

I am married and have 7 kids and 1 grandchild on the way. I have kids in 4 of the school buildings in Dalhart. I am a vested and growing member of this town and plan to stay here. I grew up in this community and have seen the problems that continue to grow inside of it. I care enough to do my best in helping to better this community and those living in and around it. I know this will take effort and the ability to work with other agencies. I believe I have the knowledge, skill set and desire to be a great asset to this community and would love the opportunity to prove it.
