Westchester County Peer Specialist Training.
This was a 5-week course i attended through The Mental Health Empowerment Project inc.The training course was funded by the State of NY Mental Health Association. As a Peer Specialist, I was trained to be an advocate for challenged individuals. All aspects of mental health counseling was discussed including Documentation for Peer support, Being Trauma Informed, Creating a "Person-Centered" approach .Being" Culturally Competent" and Essential Communication skills,were included.
9/2007- 7/2008
CASAC-T Certification, completed required 350 hours for Alcohol substance Abuse counseling. Training included :The signs and symptomatology of chemical dependency abuse. Alternative treatments, Diversity and cultural sensitivity, Relapse prevention strategies for individuals with dual diagnosis. Drug and medical Pharmacology, Documentation for Chemically dependent clients.
