Friendly and efficient Barista with in-depth knowledge of roasting methods and coffee blends. Versed in customer service and food preparation. I no longer wish to work for corporations, and I am trying to take the step I've been meaning to for over a year now into the private business world and make coffee for crowds that appreciate the hard work and passion the coffee house I work for puts into the community.
I transferred from the Starbucks in Montgomery to the store in Mountain Brook AL. I like this store a lot, however I really want to work at a real coffee shop, and out of the ones that I've been to so far, the Red Cat definitely seems to be the coffee shop that would be a great occupational home for me.
This was my first job as a barista and my second job in the specialty beverage industry. As soon as I got to Starbucks I liked it a lot and quickly learned the basics of how to grind coffee according to brew method, make french presses, handle food and pastries, and of course make lattes, cappuccinos, macchiatos, as well as starbuck's specialty drinks. In February of this past year I was promoted to "Coffee Master" (which is an actual job title there) which means that I took the training necessary to learn about about fairtrade, the regions that Starbucks buys their beans from, and also about how region/roastings affects the way that coffee tastes on the palette.
This was my first job and a prime example of how quickly I am able to adapt to new environments and skill sets. At Smoothie King, I learned basic and specialty recipes for the company. I quickly developed exceptional customer service skills as well as how to effectively manage my time between serving customers and completing tasks around the store. I was often the go to person for covering shifts because I was (and still am) reliable and hardworking.
I went to a liberal arts magnet high school in my hometown, Montgomery, AL. I graduated from here this past may and will be attending UAB in the Fall to study Anthropology.
