Litigated False Claims Act (whistleblower) lawsuits relating to a sellers duty to collect tax on e-commerce transactions. Worked in conjunction with the Illinois Attorney General to recover sales tax for the State of Illinois. Conducted research, managed an investigative team, and identified defendants. Drafted and negotiated settlement agreements. These cases involved issues of constitutional law, tax law, and, interpretation of the Illinois False Claims Act.
Litigated False Claims Act (Qui Tam) cases in Illinois and Nevada relating to e-commerce tax collection. These cases set legal precedent in Illinois, interpreting application of the Illinois False Claims Act to matters involving sales and use tax. Conducted legal research, drafted memos and pleadings. Conducted investigations and participated in creation of a database to track each case or potential case. Managed team of investigators. In addition, worked on class action lawsuits, Fair Debt Collection Practices Act matters, and Real Estate matters.
