Teen Peers Educating Peers was a program based on the Safe Dates curriculum, meant to educate teens on healthy family, friend, and dating relationships. The program functioned around the theory that impressionable teens are more likely to be positively influenced by/ listen to a message conveyed by peer mentors than adults or authority figures.The main focus was abuse prevention through education, open dialogues and mentoring teens to respect one another.
As the Assistant Coordinator my role involved designing peer education classrooms; adapting lessons to specific school issues; Training new team members on the curriculum, classroom education techniques and peer mentoring/counseling (6 separate schools); Coordinating and running team district development conferences (approximately 150 students); Reviewing grant proposals to maintain program funding; Attending annual training/development conferences to keep curriculum, knowledge, and prevention theories up to date; Meeting with and consulting with school team advisers.
I maintain three separate roles at Bar Louie and transfer between positions as needed. I train new staff on menu specifications (food and LBW), Bar Louie team standards, steps of service, store layout and general mode of operations. As a bartender/server I guide the guests through the dining experience with suggestive sales and educating them on the menu. It is my role to construct guest relationships for consistent return service and exceptional experiences.
