Dear Mr. David,
I saw the ad for Meter Readers at The Electric Company and am submitting my resume for your review and consideration. I’ve been a Meter Reader for Columbia Gas for the last 15 years, am self-disciplined and am able to work without supervision.
In my current position, I have been part of the training team for new hires, teaching them how to deal with challenges like locked gates, inaccessible meters and barking dogs. With the advent of hand-held units that communicate wirelessly, the job is easier but the routes are larger. I’m in good physical condition and enjoy working outdoors no matter what the weather.
I understand that the industry on the whole is changing and am willing to be trained as a relay or communications technician as the future of the smart grid changes the nature of the work. I enjoy working for utilities in any capacity and believe that my experience as a Meter Reader will allow me to hit the ground running and to be ready for any changes or challenges the future may hold.
I look forward to your call to discuss this opportunity and how I can contribute to helping The Electric Company adjust to the changing landscape. Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Breanna Wallace
