I started with the company at the entry level position which involved removing product from the production line and transporting it to the finished good warehouse. Approximately 8 months after my hire date, I then began moving into different roles such as a Paper and Additives handler and Mixer operator. These positions consisted of forming the product being made to the correct specifications. In 2015, I accepted the role of Lead Operator which was a position that was designed to learn each position in plant and train other employees as well. I also assisted the Shift Leader in their daily tasks and functions. I was offered the Shift Leader position in June of 2016 and am currently still in the role to this day. During my time in this role, I have attended Transformational Leadership courses and also WCM knowledge courses as well. The most recent course I have been apart of is a Leadership course that is an ongoing program since January of 2018. My training has given me tools to guide and mentor the team members while maintaining company standards and regulations. It has also increased my knowledge on guiding conversations rather they be for recognition or disciplinary purposes. I have gained knowledge in WCM problem solving tools and can effectively relate them to issues that arise on a daily basis. I began as a Chemical Operator with task of packaging materials from Reactors and Dryers. During this job, I would measure exact amounts of product into either drums, totes, super sacks, or standard sized bags. I would then correctly label the containers and transport them to the finished goods warehouse for shipment. I took on the role of Chemical Specialist Technician after 4 years with the company. At the time, there were only 4 of these positions in the entire plant and was similar to that of a Lead Operator role. I worked closely with my direct Supervisor and also managed the shift members on the weekend shifts when Supervisors were not present. My daily tasks in this role were operating equipment in our Advanced Technology Center. This section of the plant was managed by the Research and Development group for developing and trialing of new products. I worked closely with the engineering group within the company and also team members from the customer groups. My tasks would be to charge additives into either a Dryer or Reactor per the given standard operating procedure. I would monitor exothermal reactions while collecting data and quality samples throughout the process. Some of the equipment I became proficient in with my time with the company is below.

The course was designed to strengthen the skills of leaders and also gain knowledge in Area Improvement Boards for the production floor. The systems of the board help to increase involvement within the teams and are a communication source for both hourly and salary personnel.  I was a co-leader in the project to implement this system into our facility which involved training of all employees, setting system standards, and continued monitoring of the process and growth going forward.

This course has been spread out over three sessions since the beginning of 2018. Each session focused on two leadership areas that are a must win for supervisors and leaders.
