In this very demanding senior executive position, I oversee all institutional advancement functions. That includes fund-raising and corporate development, marketing, advertising, media and public relations. I also oversee all website and social media as well as alumni affairs, publications and community outreach. Our division also runs a 24-hour cable television station. UDC-TV features original and rebroadcast programming that helps the university fulfill its land-grant community service mission.

2001 to 06/2009 Chief Public Information Officer Boston Public Health Commission | Boston, MA,

In this very high profile public safety position, I coordinated all public information duties for one of the nation's busiest first-responder services. While providing news media with important information on daily events, it was my challenge to demonstrate to the public the individual accomplishments of firefighters and EMS providers in the nation's capital. I increased positive public awareness of the day-to-day activities of the Fire/EMS Department by more than 50%. I accomplished this by establishing a deep connection to social media, Facebook and Twitter. By growing followers on social media, the press and public were able to keep track of a department that handles upwards of 160,000 yearly calls for service. I partnered with existing Fire/EMS websites, providing content and other materials for display, showing Fire/EMS members hard at work. And I established an executive paging system that kept the Mayor, members of the City Council and key leaders informed of active and potential events. I have been featured in numerous broadcast and print interviews, acting as official spokesman for the City on many high profile events, including the fatal Metro crash in June, 2009, a fatal shooting of a security guard inside the National Holocaust Museum just previous to the Metro incident, and the terrorist attacks on the Pentagon on September 11, 2001. Our division also coordinated a public safety education function through the office of the Fire Marshal. We gave regular presentations to groups along a wide variety of demographics on fire safety. We also coordinated and executed a smoke alarm distribution program, incorporating public grants and private funds.

08/1992 to 2001 Anchor/Reporter Viacomcbs Inc. | Dallas, TX,

In this key position, I was responsible for covering the "city beat". I provided regular coverage of the District Mayor, City Council, public safety, schools and more. I was able to break several stories relative to District government and politics and public safety. I provided anchor coverage regularly on the weekend and during the week, as necessary. I have been recognized for outstanding reporting numerous times by the Associate Press and the Edward R. Murrow Foundation.

01/1990 to 11/1991 Media Relations Manager Greater Southeast Management Company | City, STATE,

I served as the chief spokesman for a company that managed a number of hospitals, nursing homes and property development interests. I was successful in attracting media attention to the innovation happening within the health care industry, particularly the delicate and often controversial subjects s of providing health care to poor and under-served neighborhoods. I provided regular hourly newscasts for WRVA News and for the Virginia News Network, a state-based network of radio station. I covered local Richmond news and state capital news on a general assignment basis. I provided original news coverage of breaking and enterprise stories. I arranged for affiliate coverage of breaking news state-wide, and I cultivated stories, working with affiliates. I conducted hourly news feeds of state stories provided by myself and by the many network affiliates.
