I grew up in a house full of females and only 2 men; my brother and father, only to have to move to a smaller trailer. Life wasn't easy but once we moved I started middle school and helped my Mamaw and eventually my Mom at the nursing home even before I could legally volunteer, but the CNA's didn't seem to mind a few extra hands. If they would get to busy or sidetracked I was the one to make a bed here and there upon many other things. That was until a RN found out I wasn't the legal age and complicated me being there which didn't only hurt me and kept me from the residents that I had grown so close to but the workers and the residents themselves. Most of them hadn't had any other visitors other than myself and the other workers.
Eventually I started high school and got involved with other activities: HSTA, Upward Bound, Interact and on and off sports.
As a HSTA Student I had to pick a project with my group of 2 to 3 other members usually environmental projects. A few of the testing we done through the years involved lead paint, recycling, hp levels in water etc. First we come up with a hypothesis then gather the data put it all together preform an experiment and finally accept or deny the hypothesis. Afterwards we make a PowerPoint with the whole process and present it to the HSTA/ College Professors.
Being an Upward Bound Student was a lot different than being a HSTA Student. Upward Bound was there to hopefully get the Students into college to show them the way of being a college student. In the process we also got to explore to no expense to the students not even for food including snacks on the long rides to our destination. The program was an amazing experience for me and other student we had been to Hershey Pennsylvania, Dolly Wood Tennessee and many others that I may or may not of been able to enjoy myself.
As I had pointed out before the programs I had been involved in was usually different from each other in multiple ways just like the Interact Program was nothing like the other programs I had mentioned. Interact was a fun way for me to get involved with not only the school but other organizations outside of the school. For two years straight a close friend and I went out an rung a bell in the colder weather only because Winter was right around the corner when we was suppose to go collect money for the Hands of Hope Ministry to help people in need. Also we decorated for prom and made homecoming possible.
Other than the school programs and organizations I was involved in I also love Volleyball and I should of played all the way through middle and High but I didn't have the funds to make that possible so I played every chance I got.
